Motorola recently launched its latest beauty-of-a-smartphone, the Moto X Style. The Moto X Style is a 5.7 inch smartphone that, in its portrayal of beauty and elegance, seems to have come out as a Picassian piece of consumer electronics brilliance up for eyeballing and, most certainly, up for consumption. The Moto X Style 16 GB is expected to be available in India at a price of Rs. 29,999 while the Moto X Style 32 GB model may cost up to Rs. 31,999.

The specs on the Moto X Style

This not-so-little beauty has some amazingly contrasting specifications within its own system, but to be fair to the engineers that crafted the Moto X Style’s essence the trade-offs were well worth the efforts and the product can always undergo enhancements in future iterations. So a smartphone with a 21 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera is surely a greater leap in engineering as opposed to a smartphone with a 13 megapixel rear and an 8 megapixel front camera, which is the usual specification for a majority of new flagship products on offer from other brands.

Another interesting trade-off is that the Moto X Style boasts of a 1.8 GHz processor, but comes with a 3 GB RAM, while most other brands seem to be focusing on faster processor speeds and reasonable memory access abilities among current generation hardware. The Moto X Style is powered by the Android 5.1.1 OS, which means it isn’t running the absolute latest version of Android (read Android Marshmallow) but it is still the latest version of Android in wider acceptance. The Moto X Style also boasts of 16 GB internal storage and 3000 mAh battery capacity.

What is so great about the Moto X Style?

In one simple, succinct pronoun – lots!

For starters, it has the most pristine camera and there is more to it than the 21 megapixels. The primary reason why the Moto X Style is the worthy new flagship product of the Moto series is its camera.

Moving on to the design of the Moto X Style. This is one of the hippest looking smartphones one can hope to find in the market today. Like its predecessor, the Moto X Style will eventually be available in multiple back panel options in terms of the material used. The front panel on the Moto X Style is powered by Gorilla Glass 3, while its edges are metallic in build, giving the device an unusually hip look for a current generation Moto series product. I say that because most other Moto series smartphones which make it to the consumer electronics market seem to be design agnostic.

The focus of the rest of the Moto series smartphones seems to be the offering of good specifications at affordable prices to the consumer, which is by all means a great business strategy, but from a brand strategy the Moto X Style is the only current generation Moto series device that oozes design oomph.

I can go on about the great specs on board the Moto X Style and how the design and specs come together to give a world class smartphone option to the consumer who is not looking to buy a Samsung or a Xiaomi Android phone in the Indian market, but I will leave the speculation to the better judgement of our readers.

The Moto X Style or Moto X Play dilemma

We know that the Moto X Style is not the only new Moto phone launched in the Indian market recently. The Moto X Play is another exciting phone from the company that falls in a lower price range for obviously lesser specs when compared to the Moto X Style. Having said that bear in mind that the Moto X Play is a darn good phone on its own and does not need to be compared to its flagship big brother, however, there seems to be some speculation among consumers about which option to go for if both fall in their budget.

The answer to that query is pretty simple. If you need a high quality camera phone with all the bells and whistles of a modern design go for the Moto X Style. If the quality of the camera on a smartphone does not influence your primary buying decision then opt for the Moto X Play because it does boast of a very decent battery capacity, 3630 mAh to be precise.

Note: If you are a visitor from USA, please note that the Moto X Style is the same product branded in the US as the Moto X Pure Edition.
