Interestingly, while the phone supports standard connectivity options such as 3G and Wi-Fi, it does not support 4G connectivity. It’s interesting because while homegrown brands, such as Micromax, see 4G as the way forward and are aggressively pushing for its adoption by launching a plethora of 4G phones, international brands such as Asus continue to offer a wider variety of options to the consumer.
Unlike Micromax, Asus isn’t just focused on dishing out countless 4G phablets in different price segments, Asus’ focus is more on getting consumers comfortable with the available inventory of tech specs at Asus’ disposal and not on launching too many devices than they can successfully market.

The Asus ZenFone Max runs on ZenUI 2.0 which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. But without doubt the most compelling feature on the Asus ZenFone Max is its mammoth 5000 mAh battery unit.
Asus has decided to take on the likes of the Gionee Marathon M5 head on. Much like the Gionee Marathon M5 mobile, which has an astonishing 6020 mAh battery, the Asus ZenFone Max has a feature that allows the battery to double up as a power bank. Yes, you can actually charge another smartphone using your Asus ZenFone Max. Sounds too good to be true? Well, Gionee beat Asus to this tech and you can expect this tech to become the norm in the months to come.

This is an all new kind of smartphone face-0ff. We have seen phones compete with each other on battery capacity specs before but never has one seen a battery innovation competition before. The ZenFone Max is certainly going against stiff competition and will do well to outperform the Gionee Marathon M5. Asus also claims that the battery on the ZenFone Max will deliver up to 38 hours of talk time and up to, a staggering, 914 hours of standby time. Talk about a powerful battery.
Why is Asus keen on the budget-phone segment in India?
It is worth noting that Asus has recently launched a few products for the budget conscious consumer, this includes the Asus ZenFone Go 4.5 mobile. The company is also expected to launch multiple new devices in this segment in the near future. This is arguably the most competitive segment in India’s highly saturated smartphone market and Asus is betting on the dearth of high quality hardware and innovative tech in India’s budget-phone segment.

While there are a lot of top brands, such as Samsung and Xiaomi, which are offering some impressive products in terms of pure specifications, very few brands are investing in innovative tech and R&D to produce something unique in this price segment. With the smartly priced ZenFone Max, Asus has set the ball rolling and one can expect more innovation coming from its competitors soon.
