Well, the speculation has been laid to rest and the real thing has now been unveiled. Here is a quick look at the specifications on Samsung’s latest flagships.

Specifications – Samsung Galaxy S7

The Galaxy S7 boasts  of a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a super impressive pixel density of 577 ppi. Other display features include the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 technology that will help make the display more durable and scratch resistant than ever before. One of the most talked about specs on the Galaxy S7 for quite sometime has been the 1.6 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. These will be among the very first set of devices to boast of this powerful new processor from Qualcomm.

The Galaxy S7’s processing will get even more impetus with the addition of a 4GB RAM. One powerful combination that. The internal storage on the other hand is 32 GB which is expandable up to 200 GB via a microSD card slot.

The phone comes with a 12 megapixel rear camera with digital zoom and LED flash. The camera is fully equipped to offer Full HD video recording. The front camera is a 5 megapixel unit for all the selfies you will take while flaunting this beast of a smartphone.

The phone comes with a 3000 mAh battery capacity which might seem a little on the lower side for Samsung’s flagship product considering the fact that other brands, such as Gionee, are offering phones with 5000 mAh batteries at prices which are almost 1/5th the price of the Galaxy S7. Having said that the battery prowess of the Galaxy S series phones is a widely recognized facet and one expects these two new phones to live up to their billing. It is almost needless to point out that this dual-SIM smartphone supports all standard connectivity options including 4G, but we did that just in case.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Last but not the least the Samsung Galaxy S7 is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. This is one of the first major league smartphones to ship with the latest Android OS instead of getting an upgrade after shipping.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

The Galaxy S7 Edge is the exact same phone as the Galaxy S7 save for a few noticeable tweaks. The Galaxy S7 Edge has a curved screen as its name suggest and comes with a slightly larger display than the Galaxy S7. This S7 Edge has a 5.5 inch display compared to the S7’s 5.1 inch screen. This also accounts for a change in pixel density. The S7 Edge boasts of a pixel density of 534 ppi.

Also, the battery on the S7 Edge is a slightly more powerful 3600 mAh battery making it a few grams heavier than its cousin. Save for these changes the Galaxy S7 Edge has the exact same specs as the Galaxy S7.

These phones may look similar to their predecessors but they are not the same thing

The thing about Samsung phones that turns off a few folks is the similarity in design across a range of products. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge design is strikingly similar to their predecessors – Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. But that’s where the similarity between these two generations of Galaxy S series phones ends.

The new flagships are far more powerful and have a far better form-factor on offer than their predecessors. You would have to hold these devices to notice the difference. There is a good reason why despite all the great launches at MWC 2016 the launch of these Samsung flagships stood out. These new Samsung flagships are absolute winners.
