Panasonic Eluga I3 with 5.5 inch Display and 2 GB RAM now Available in India

Japanese multinational Panasonic is stepping up to the challenge and is beginning to deliver some high quality smartphones across various price segments. The electronics giant has now released a phone under Rs. 10,000 that is sure deserves a shout-out from the smartphone savvy generation that likes to change phones every year; in some cases, every few months.

The new Panasonic Eluga I3 is a promising product. Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on this phone.

Specifications – Panasonic Eluga I3

The Panasonic Eluga I3 comes with a 5.5 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor which gets a performance boost thanks to the 2 GB RAM. The internal storage on this phone is a standard 16 GB but it can be expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot.

The Eluga I3 comes with a 13 megapixel primary camera with LED flash and auto focus while the secondary camera is a decent 5 megapixel unit. One could argue that these camera specs are now pretty much the norm in the budget phone segment so this configuration shouldn’t amount to much fanfare. While that is true to an extent, it is also true that each brand needs to get its own R&D right to be able to deliver quality phones even though they may have what might be considered “standard” configuration in the market.

The dual-SIM smartphone is available in three colors – champagne gold, rose gold, and marine blue. The phone also supports all standard connectivity options such as 4G. The Panasonic Eluga I3 comes with a 2700 mAh battery. While some may not consider that a top notch battery configuration, it again boils down to a company’s tech prowess – hardware or software – when compared to its better placed competitors. So I would argue that the Eluga I3 has a pretty decent battery capacity and in all probability you will not be disappointed by the battery capacity in the long run.

While the Eluga I3 is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS it runs on the company’s very own FitHome UI. The FitHome UI would count as another software advancement as far Panasonic is concerned. They are willing to offer consumers a different navigational scheme and there is nothing wrong with that. Especially since most top brands do the same now.

The Panasonic Eluga range has some quality budget phones

With the launch of the Eluga I3 Panasonic has continued to expand its Eluga range of smartphones. This is perhaps Panasonic’s best smartphone series and offers some credible products at reasonable prices. Some of the other notable smartphones in the Eluga series are Panasonic Eluga Switch, Panasonic Eluga Turbo, and Panasonic Eluga Mark.

While the Panasonic Eluga Turbo boasts of a superior RAM (3 GB) the rest of the Eluga pack isn’t far behind and offers specs which may be considered equivalent to the Eluga I3 with a few differences. Interestingly, Panasonic has priced all these phones in the Rs. 9,000 – Rs. 11,500 price range. That is a tight price range to club your products into as consumers will generally choose a phone based on its pricing, if there are multiple options with similar specs. Having said that it seems Panasonic thought this one out. They have enough differences in specifications to influence consumer behavior with the pricing of these products.
