HP has launched what is being touted as the world’s thinnest laptop in India. The new HP Spectre 13 was unveiled back in April, 2016 and has now been officially launched in India. Let’s take a closer look at the specification on this laptop.
Specifications – HP Spectre 13
The HP Spectre 13 comes with a 13.3 inch full-HD WLED-backlit IPS edge-to-edge display. This display is protected from any accidental falls and damages thanks to the 0.4mm layer of the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 technology. The laptop will be powered by Intel’s 6th generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors alongside Intel HD graphics. The laptop will also boast of a powerful 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM.

The HP Spectre 13 will have SSD storage of 512 GB, which is right now the standard storage capacity on laptops in India. The battery on the HP Spectre 13 is a 4-cell 38Whr Li-ion battery which, the company claims, will last up to 9.5 on a single full charge.
The laptop weighs a mere 1.1 kg making it one of the lightest laptops going around. The laptop comes with Bang & Olufsen audio with Quad Speakers Sound. It runs on a 64-bit Windows 10 operating system and is therefore updated with the latest software specs.
The HP Spectre 13 is the world’s thinnest laptop
There are two industries where being thin is considered a highly relevant criterion for success. The first is the fashion industry and the second is the computer industry, more specifically the laptop genre. While this fixation with being the thinnest in the fashion industry is no longer an acceptable thing, and rightly so, the laptop industry is an entirely different ball game.
This is why the news of the world’s thinnest laptop is big news in this industry. The Spectre 13 is super thin at 10.4 mm. For context: this laptop is thinner than some pens. The HP Spectre 13 is without doubt the sleekest looking laptop one has laid eyes upon in recent memory. It sports a marvelous design that is sure to make heads turn. HP has gone all out to make this laptop look more like a piece of jewellery, a pretty one at that, than a mere laptop. These designs efforts certainly did not go in vain and the HP Spectre 13 has turned out to be the ravishing beauty its designers intended it to be.
One of the down sides of ultra-thin laptops currently available in the market is that in order to ensure a very thin finish they make a trade-off that is not highly appreciated by the consumers, to put it mildly. Most of these ultra-thin laptops achieve their thinness by removing multiple ports, which means that the connectivity options are limited. Surely someone should have rectified that by now. Well, HP seems to have done just that.

The HP Spectre 13 does not compromise on the connectivity front. It’s a fine piece of engineering that led HP to achieve this. But it’s not all engineering. There is a bit of common sense involved too, which some other brands seem to ignore. The HP Spectre 13 also includes an adaptor which comes in super handy if you have old USB equipment you can’t do without.
The HP Spectre 13 is currently priced at Rs. 1,19,900. This may seem a bit high to some consumers but to be honest HP is marketing this as a luxury product, so those consumers who find it too expensive are probably not the target audience for this product. HP would have you believe that this is the non-wearable electronic jewellery you deserve and if you have deep pockets, I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with HP’s vision.
