Lyf Earth 2 with Dual-13 Megapixel Camera and 3 GB RAM Launched

After quietly overtaking many smartphone brands in India and becoming the fifth largest smartphone brand by shipments in India, Lyf has gone on to launch more new smartphones. Following the launch of the Lyf Wind 1 the company has now unveiled the Lyf Earth 2. Let’s dive into the specifications on this phone.

Specifications – Lyf Earth 2

The Lyf Earth 2 has a 5 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920. The pixel density on the display amounts to 445 ppi. This is a 2.5D curved glass display with a 178 degree viewing angle and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it from accidental damages. The phone has a 1.5 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor and an Adreno 405 GPU. The Earth 2 also has a powerful 3 GB RAM to boot.

The internal storage on the phone is 32 GB, which can be expanded up to 64 GB using a microSD card slot. Since this is a mid-range phone I would say the storage capacity is spot on from Lyf. A little extra storage would not have hurt though.

The Lyf Earth 2 has a dual 13 megapixel camera specification, which is just a brilliant addition to the phone. A 13 megapixel primary camera is very much a common specification in modern smartphones, however, a 13 megapixel front camera is a truly great innovation. While I understand this isn’t the first phone to boast of such camera specifications, there is n denying that it is still a bit of a novelty for most smartphones users. Who doesn’t love a powerful selfie camera?

Both cameras support 4x digital zoom. The rear camera also supports laser auto focus. The front camera supports Phase Detection Auto focus, LED flash, touch focus, manual HDR, gesture capture among other things. So there’s no denying that the USP of the Lyf Earth 2 is its dual 13 megapixel camera specification that is sure to get photography enthusiasts, and mostly selfie enthusiasts, excited.

This is a dual-SIM phone and it does support 4G connectivity. The phone weighs 140 grams and has the following dimensions – 142 x 67 x 7.2 mm. The battery capacity on the phone is 2500 mAh. The company claims that the phone can last up to 14 hours in talktime and up to 480 hours in standby time. I must say that in 2016 if a phone costs more than Rs. 15,000 it should seriously consider offering better battery capacity than 2500 mAh. We will find out the exact price of this phone soon enough to determine whether it is worth the price.

Some other features on the Lyf Earth 2 include fingerprint and Hall sensors, flip to mute, double tap to wake up, black screen gesture, auto call, auto answer, pocket mode, air gesture, and activate camera.

One crucial specification on the Lyf Earth 2 is that it is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. Just as is the case with the Lyf Wind 1, we expect Lyf to offer the latest version of the Android OS by now. Pretty much every brand now offers Android 6.0 Marshmallow so there is no reason why Lyf shouldn’t be making that switch now.
