Lenovo is further expanding its Vibe series of smartphone. The Beijing based company has now launched a new budget phone in the Vibe series. The Lenovo Vibe C2 Power is a successor to the Lenovo Vibe C2. Let’s dive right into the specifications on this phone.
Specifications – Lenovo Vibe C2 Power
The Vibe C2 Power comes with a 5 inch IPS display that has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone comes with a 1 GHz Quad Core MediaTek MT6735P processor alongside a 2 GB RAM. The internal storage on the phone is 16 GB which is a bit of an industry standard right now for budget phones. But this internal storage capacity can be expanded on the Vibe C2 Power for up to 32 GB using a microSD card slot.
The Vibe C2 Power has a pretty average camera configuration. The primary camera on the phone is an 8 megapixel unit which supports LED flash and auto focus, while the secondary camera on the phone is a 5 megapixel unit. This isn’t the best camera phone that Lenovo has offered in the budget phone segment by any stretch of the imagination but it is good enough for the selfie enthusiasts.

This dual-SIM phone comes with 4G connectivity and will be available in two colors – black and white. The dimensions on the phone are 143 x 71.4 x 9.54 mm and it weighs 155.6 grams. The battery capacity on the phone is 3500 mAh, which is pretty good for a phone in its price segment. Much like the Vibe C2 the Vibe C2 Power is also powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
It is fair to say that the Vibe C2 Power is a better version of the Vibe C2. To begin with the Vibe C2 Power has twice as much RAM as the Vibe C2 so it is predictably faster than the Vibe C2. The other major difference is the battery capacity. While the Vibe C2 has a reasonably good 2750 mAh battery, the Vibe C2 Power trumps it with a 3500 mAh battery.
Is the Lenovo Vibe C2 Power worth its price?
I noted earlier that the Vibe C2 Power has what can only be described as an average camera configuration. The primary camera on the phone is a just 8 megapixel which is way less than what Lenovo offers on some of its other products. In fact the camera on this phone doesn’t match up to some other products in the Vibe series itself. A case in point is the Lenovo Vibe K5.
The Vibe K5 has a primary camera of 13 megapixel and it is currently priced way less than the expected price tag on the Vibe C2 Power. This begs the question – why will Lenovo want to launch a product in the same series and in the same price segment where it already has a best seller like Vibe K5 and other products that are sure to outshine it in terms of specific specs?
There is no simple answer to that but one can assume that this is yet another instance of a smartphone brand in India using aggressive pricing to try and bring value, however inflated, to its latest product. We don’t know if Lenovo had planned to launch the Vibe C2 Power earlier and it is just a delayed project on their shipment line so we can’t say for certain but if the specs on the Lenovo Vibe C2 Power are anything to go by Lenovo has created a bit of a paradox for itself.
This is not to say that the Vibe C2 Power is a bad product. It is anything but a bad product when compared to its competitors. But whether it will affect the internal sales and compete against its own Vibe series mates is something only time will tell. We will have to wait for Lenovo to release the sales numbers on the Vibe series phones and that is a fair distance away.
I think the Lenovo Vibe C2 Power is a value for money phone if you are deciding between a Lenovo budget phone and another brand but it isn’t worth its money if your choices are limited to Lenovo budget phones alone. Choose your pick.
