Intex is the third largest smartphone vendor in India behind Samsung and Micromax. It currently holds a share of 12% in the Indian smartphone market. The consumer electronics company is known for producing incredibly affordable smartphones for the masses aside from LED TVs, washing machines, and smart wearables. It has now entered the air purifiers segment as well.

The company launched several affordable smartphones over the past couple of months. Some of the major launches include the Intex Aqua Music, Intex Cloud Tread, and Intex Aqua Strong 5.1. The Indian smartphone giant is now back with yet another budget phone – the Intex Aqua S2. Let us discuss the major specs and features of this phone in detail.

Form Factor

The Intex Aqua S2 has a unibody design with the dimensions – 146.4 X 73.0 X 9.65 mm. The phone weighs 153.8 grams and the screen-to-body (bezel to screen) ratio is 64.459%.

Architecture, Memory, and Operating System

The Intex Aqua S2 has a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Spreadtrum (SC7731C) processor and a Mali-400MP GPU. The device has a 1 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, which includes the memory used for OS and apps. The internal memory is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card.

The device runs on the Android v6.0 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box.

Display and Battery

The Intex Aqua S2 has a 5-inch TN display with 16.7M colors and 2-finger touch. The display resolution is 480 X 854 pixels, which translates to a pixel density of 196 ppi.

The smartphone has a 2,450 mAh Li-ion battery, which apparently allows for 110 hours of standby time and 5 hours of talk time.

Camera

The Intex Aqua S2 has 5-megapixel primary camera with an F2.2 aperture, 3P lens, and LED flash. The primary module is a CMK-CW3385-FG3 among with a GC5005C sensor.

The secondary camera is a 5-megapixel shooter as well. It has an F2.8 aperture with 3P lens. The secondary module is a CMK-CW3386-FV3 with a OV5648 sensor.

Both primary and secondary camera units have the auto focus feature and are capable of recording videos at 30 FPS.

Connectivity and Entertainment

The Intex Aqua S2 is a dual-SIM (GSM + WCDMA) device with support for 3G. The connectivity features include WLAN (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth (V2.1+EDR), GPS/AGPS, FM radio, 3.5-mm audio jack, and microUSB.

The phone has a 1511 speaker. It supports the video player formats – 3 GP, MP4, MKV, AV, FLV, and F4V. The supported audio player formats – MP3, M4A, AAC, 3GP, OGG, WAV, and MID.

Other Features

The sensors and other miscellaneous features in the Intex Aqua S2 include G-sensor, fingerprint scanner, emergency rescue, and smart gesture.

The smartphone is capable of capturing GIF images. The VAS apps include Intex Service, Matrabhasha, Newspoint, Daily Hunt, Saavn, Opera Mini, LFTY, and Online Software Update (FOTA).

The Intex Aqua S2 will compete with models such as the Lava P7+, Asus ZenFone Go 4.5 ZC451TG, Alcatel Pop Star 5070D, Karbonn Titanium Vista, Videocon Infinium Z51Q Star, and XOLO Q900.

The Lava P7+ trumps the Intex Aqua S2 when it comes to certain critical features. The former comes with a superior 8-megapixel camera and a slightly faster 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor. Also, its display has a better resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

The Intex Aqua S2 comes with three color options – Champagne, White, and Grey – and is priced at about Rs. 5,000.

The smartphone comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty and a six-month warranty for the accessories in the box. The accessories include a screen guard, a protection cover, a user manual, an adapter, a USB cable, and a pair of earphones.
