Amazon is one of the largest e-commerce sites in India and has expanded its service with the recent establishment of Amazon Now service. It is company 2-hour home essential and grocery delivery service that was launched in Bengaluru in February. Now the 2 hour grocery delivery service by Amazon is launched officially in both Mumbai and Delhi. However the service is available only in specific areas in the launched cities.
Amazon Now 2-Hour Express Delivery
Amazon Now is the new wing of Amazon that promise home delivery of groceries and other essentials in two hours of ordering. The customer can place order and choose time slot within two hour of time slot with slots starting from 10am till 10pm. Amazon Now app is now available on Google Play and soon the company will be developing the app also for iOS. In the app the service also shows available for Hyderabad but it has not yet been officially launched. Few users from Delhi claim that the service was already available to them from August onwards but probably the company was testing it before launching it officially. In the app NCR is also mentioned and this it is evident that service is also available in and around Delhi as trial.
Free delivery above Rs 350
The 2-hour express delivery by Amazon Now allows free delivery for grocery and other essential order above Rs 350. In case of orders below Rs 350 service charge of Rs 29 is charged for scheduled delivery and Rs 49 for express delivery. As a promotion gimmick in Mumbai and Delhi there will be no delivery charge on any amount of order. With help of Amazon Now people can shop for around Rs 5000 everyday for vegetables, fruits and other groceries from stores like Hypercity, Spar, Modern Bazaar, Easy Day, Big Bazaar, SRS etc.
Conclusion
It was first launched in Bengaluru followed by Mumbai and Delhi today. As Hyderabad is seen on the app listing the next expected launch destination is Hyderabad. There was good response by Bengaluru customers and that led to expansion of business in Mumbai and Delhi. As mentioned by Saurabh Srivastava, Category leader of Amazon India – “The positive response prompted us to expand to Delhi and Mumbai, to be able to service our customers in these cities too and enable them to shop for their everyday essentials or over 5,000 products from the ecosystem of their local stores and get them delivered within two-four hours.”
