Android 7.0 Nougat is the new buzz with lot of phones getting the latest update. It was HTC One A9 unlocked that received the Android 7.0 Nougat update but along with that there are other phones from HTC as well scheduled to get the latest update. To join HTC One A9, HTC 10, HTC 10 lifestyle and HTC One M9 also will get the updates from Nougat. The phones have started getting the updated in Europe. It was confirmed by Product & Service Director, HTC EMAE Graham Wheeler – “HTC 10 Nougat starts rolling it out today. UK first more regions to follow soon.”
Rolling out of updated in unlocked HTC phones
It was seen for the first time in November, 2016 that unlocked HTC 10 phones already started getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, the update was seen only in selected regions. In December, it was seen that the unlocked HTC One M9 phones also received Nougat update but the update was limited to narrow range of region. However, now the update has been rolled out for Europe and it will start from UK with gradual extension of updates to other regions of Europe.
Update information and size
It was first announced soon after the launch and release of Android 7.0 Nougat last year by HTC that its phone will get updates in fourth quarter. HTC announced the updates for HTC 10, HTC One M9 & HTC One A9 regarding the updates. But it was evident that HTC could not keep the promise as it delayed any updates. HTC could not roll out the latest Nougat update during the stipulated timeframe but sticking to its promise of update, it has rolled out the Android 7.0 Nougat now for its users. As per a report by Android Police, the Nougat update for HTC 10 is around 1.17GB while the same update is for HTC 10 Lifestyle is 1.15GB which will be received OTA (Over the air). HTC One M9 is to get the update with size of 1.27GB with OTA update.
