HP Chromebook 11 G5 with 12.5 Hours of Battery Life Coming to India in October

HP has unveiled a new Chromebook for the Indian market. The Chromebook 11 G5 will be available in India from October. Let’s take a look at the specifications on this device.

Specifications – HP Chromebook 11 G5

The HP Chromebook 11 G5, true to its name, is an 11.6 inch laptop with IPS display and a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The laptop will come with an Intel Celeron N3060 dual processor with a 1.6 GHz Base Clock and 2.48 GHz Burst Clock. This laptop will come with a 2MB L2 cache, which means that there is some focus on improving data access when a cache miss occurs. The L2 cache is slightly slower but it does make for a relatively better data access scheme when encountering a cache miss. Relative to L1 cache of course. At the moment this seems like the best cache solution available on a low-priced Chromebook.

The HDD capacity options on the Chromebook 11 G5 are 16 GB and 32 GB, while the Chromebook also offers 2 GB and 4 GB RAM options. The graphics processor on this laptop is the Intel HD Graphics 400 and it comes with dual speakers and HD sound capabilities.

The web camera on the laptop is an HP TrueVision HD webcam. The connectivity on the laptop is enabled by wireless LAN and Bluetooth v4.2. There are 2 USB 3.1 ports and a headphone jack to boot. However, the USP of this laptop is its battery.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 will last up to 12 hours and 30 minutes on a single full charge. That is arguably best battery on any low-priced Chromebook ever. While this is an impressive specification for any laptop, it becomes even more impressive on a netbook. The Chromebook is useful when connected to the Internet and Google has already announced HP Chromebooks will get Google Play support. Also, since the Chromebook 11 is powered by Chrome OS there will be eventual Android apps support anyways, making it imperative that the user does not feel cheated by the battery life. So kudos to HP for getting this right.

There will also be a touchscreen variant of this Chromebook. The battery on the touchscreen variant will last 11 hours, which is still very impressive. The rest of the specifications for the touchscreen variant are the same as the standard variant except for a slight difference in weight. The standard variant will weigh around 1.18 kg while the touchscreen variant will weigh around 1.14 kg.

This isn’t the only HP Chromebook 11 model though. There will be two more models namely the HP Chromebook 11 and the HP Chromebook 11 EE.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 will come with a price tag of Rs. 12, 799. Once again an extremely affordable Chromebook device on offer here. While this pricing is not new for Chromebooks it is true that the specifications in this price segment have previously disappointed consumers. Having said that the Chromebook 11 G5 is a much better offering compared to other low-priced Chromebooks in the market previously.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 will be available through online retailers starting October, 2016.
