HTC had announced the HTC 10 earlier this year and it had impressed a lot of people. HTC kind of needs it to succeed and it needs its Desire series to continue to succeed. So the once leading smartphone brand is now channeling all its efforts on introducing the latest in the Desire series. And rumour has it that the latest is here.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is coming our way soon. It will be a mid-ranger in all likelihood. Let’s dive into the rumoured specifications that the Desire 10 Pro will likely sport.
Specifications – HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will likely have a 5.5 inch HD display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad core processor. It is expected to be available in two variants. The first will be a 2 GB RAM and a possible 16 GB internal storage. The second will be a 3 GB RAM and a possible 32 GB internal storage.
The phone will sport a 13 megapixel primary camera with support for LED flash and digital zoom. The secondary camera will likely be a 5 megapixel unit. The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will be a single SIM phone and will support 4G connectivity. The phone will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

It remains to be seen whether the battery capacity on this phone is similar to the current flagship’s battery. In other words, I am expecting the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle to have an equally disappointing battery capacity as the HTC 10. The best HTC can do is pleasantly surprise me with great battery specs, however, I don’t see that happening due to HTC’s limited focus on improving battery tech. Also, they just need to focus on getting more ‘Desirable’ products out in the market right now and maybe they can worry about specific specifications later.
Apart from the Desire 10 Lifestyle, there are rumours of another mid-range HTC phone doing the rounds. This one will likely be called the HTC Desire 10 Pro. I expect it to sport pretty similar specs to the Desire 10 Lifestyle with possibly a better RAM and more internal storage. However, there is no official word from HTC on this phone yet.
The reason why this rumour is getting a lot of traction in the tech circles is its leak source. The phone’s details were leaked by professional phone leaker (yes, they exist) Evan Blass. Evan has made a name for himself by leaking some of the most relevant details on phones previously so this leak can also be considered pretty legitimate.
HTC should not be disappointed with the leak though. They would probably take all the pre-launch hype their products can generate, even if it’s from a leaked source. Evan has also claimed that the phone will be launched in September. This means that the product is near shipment date and it’s not likely that any of the details mentioned will change in such a short span of time.
HTC desperately needs a couple of blockbuster hits
HTC will be banking on the new Desire 10 Lifestyle and the Desire 10 Pro to succeed. They are also hoping their flagship, which is actually pretty awesome phone, hits the jackpot. If these products and whatever follows immediately after them don’t succeed HTC run the risk of becoming the next BlackBerry.
These views are based on HTC’s dismal performance in Q1 of 2016. HTC’s revenue plummeted to $460 million. That’s a fall of 64% in the first quarter. If that was not catastrophic enough, the company reported that its profits fell by 78% compared to the year-ago-quarter. By the looks of things HTC will likely suffer more losses in Q2 but will be hoping to show some improvement in Q3 when the actual results of the sales of these products, and some others that are lined up, can be properly assessed.

If HTC does not succeed in securing a couple of blockbuster sales from some of these products I am afraid we may begin to witness the writing on the wall for HTC by this time next year. So as a long time HTC supporter I am hoping the Desire 10 Lifestyle and the Desire 10 Pro bring the company some lost glory.
