HTC Corporation has added yet another feather to its cap. The Taiwanese multinational has launched the HTC Desire 628 dual SIM phone which further expands HTC’s famous Desire series.
Specifications – HTC Desire 628 dual SIM
The HTC Desire 628 comes with a 5 inch super LCD display that has a pixel density of 294 ppi. The phone has a 1.3 GHz octa core processor alongside a Mali-T720 GPU and a 3 GB RAM. That is enough to qualify the Desire 628 as one of the elites in the mid-range segment as far as performance is concerned.
The phone comes with an internal storage of 32 GB which is expandable up to a staggering 2 TB via a microSD card slot. Very few high-end phones would be able to offer you that kind of storage using a microSD card slot so the fact that HTC offers this on a phone that would fall in the mid-range segment is rather commendable on the company’s part.

The Desire 628 comes with a primary camera of 13 megapixel LED flash, while the secondary camera is a 5 megapixel unit. I would have to say for all the amazing storage space that the phone can offer HTC could have done better with the camera options. There are budget phones under Rs. 10,000 that offer the same camera specifications, so I HTC might have missed a trick there.
The dual SIM phone which supports all major connectivity options that are expected of a modern day phone also supports 4G connectivity. People would argue that 4G, at least in India, is now available in smartphones that cost one fifth of the HTC Desire 628 so this isn’t really a special addition to the phone. But for those of us who have experienced browsing the mobile web on an HTC device this is actually quite an important feature to have.
With the exception of the Huawei Nexus 6P there are very few Android based brands that make browsing on their hardware as smooth and pleasing to the eye as an HTC smartphone. So to us smartphone nerds, a moniker I am trying to get into circulation, the 4G connectivity on the HTC Desire 628 means the world.
The Desire 628 weighs a mere 142 grams despite its form factor and is easy to carry around. The battery capacity on the phone is 2200 mAh. Now I understand that HTC bills itself as a premium brand and does offer some of the very best smartphones the market has ever known, so I am pretty sure they could have done better than 2200 mAh on the Desire 628.

It is important to note that battery capacity on its own isn’t enough but how efficiently it is utilized also counts a great deal. Having said that, no matter how efficient HTC make the battery on this phone there is absolutely no reason why they couldn’t push it beyond at least the 3000 mAh capacity. They don’t lack engineering expertise or R&D ability to pull something like this off so it bothers me that they would use battery capacity as a trade off on a mid-range phone for a few other things.
As a smartphone brand in 2016 if you can offer the customer a good battery you should do it. Even the companies at the bottom of the ladder do it these days because the technology to achieve the same exists. And finally the HTC Desire 628 dual SIM is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
I consider the HTC Desire 628 dual SIM to be a phone worth buying if you are an HTC loyalist and love the beautiful designs of HTC phones and despite the few shortcoming that I have highlighted above this is still a powerful phone with the potential to store 2 TB of data. I would buy it just for the storage option actually, but that’s just me.
