This is a pretty substantial improvement over previous Huawei smartphones in this price range. This improvement does suggest that Huawei has take a leaf out of their competitor Gionee’s book and is now ready to deliver smartphones that are suited to the Indian consumer’s demands. One of Indian consumer’s primary demands of course is a battery that lasts forever. International brands seem to be finally taking this into consideration and are launching phones with way better battery capacities than they were a year or so ago.
Most brands now prefer offering their own user interface to make their products stand out from the crowd so it is no surprise that the Huawei Y6 Pro, just as many of its cousins, is powered by Android Lollipop 5.1 based Emotion UI 3.1 Lite.
The Huawei Y6 Pro is a Product of its times
Some products are groundbreaking and serve as catalysts for entire markets while some others fail to make a mark despite their individual appeal. A good example of the former is the Xiaomi Mi 3 while a good example of the latter is Microsoft’s attempt at building great phones.
And then there are some products that are born out of the need for them to exist. These products may not be revolutionary in any way but they don’t fail because there is always a market for them. The Huawei Y6 Pro falls in this category. It is a product of its time and there is a market waiting to help it succeed.
The fact that brands like Huawei are willing to launch a phone that specifically serves the needs of the local market is a sign of changing times. India’s emergence as one of the major markets for smartphones has meant that brands must compete with each other to provide better products to the consumers at affordable prices.
While this healthy competition among brands benefits them and helps push technological advances, it has also benefited emerging markets and consumers. Nobody is complaining that a leading brand such as Huawei is launching a smartphone with a battery capacity of 4000 mAh in a price segment that suits a lot of Indian consumers.
The Huawei Y6 Pro is great product to own if Rs. 10k is your budget.
