Intex recently made an addition to its Aqua series of smartphones with the announcement of the Intex Aqua Music. As the name suggests, the phone caters to music lovers and comes with dual speakers to enhance the music-listening experience. Now, let’s have a look at the features this new smartphone is packing.

As for the build, the Intex Aqua Music weighs 159 grams and has the dimensions – 150 x 74.19 x 8.5 mm. The device has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 720, which translates to a pixel density of 267 ppi. The screen allows for 5-point touch, and the screen-to-body ratio is 74%. The phone has a 13-megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash. The secondary camera is a 5-megapixel shooter. The camera unit has autofocus and is capable of recording FHD videos at 30 fps.

The Intex Aqua Music packs a 3,400 mAh lithium polymer battery, which supposedly allows for a talk time of 6.5 hours (WCDMA) or 14 hours (GSM). The standby time is marked at 250 hours. The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor and a Mali-T720 GPU. As for the operating system, the phone runs on Android v6.0 (Marshmallow). The dual-SIM device has two micro-SIM slots, both capable of supporting 4G. It has a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory of which 11 GB will be available to users. The memory is, however, expandable up to 32 GB.

With regard to connectivity features, the smartphone supports 4G and VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, USB 2.0, GPS/A-GPS, 3.5-mm audio jack, etc. The sensors incorporated in the phone are an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, and an accelerometer.

Intex is one of the prominent players in the highly competitive Indian smartphone market. It holds the third position in the market with a share of 9.2% (Q1, 2016). Over the past couple of years, the company has also been focussing on consumer durables such as televisions, washing machines, and wearable devices.
Intex recently launched FitRist Pulzz, its latest smart band that features a 0.66-inch OLED display. Its fitness features include heart rate, motion, and sleep monitoring. The band, which is available in a wide range of colours, has features pertaining to call or SMS notifications, camera and MP3 control, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp notifications, hydration reminder, etc. The smart band is priced at Rs. 1,799.

The Intex Aqua Music will face stiff competition from competitors like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (16 GB), Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime, Asus ZenFone Max, XOLO Black, and Meizu M2 Note.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (16 GB) offers pretty similar specs when compared with the Intex Aqua Music. However, the former packs a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and an Adreno 510 GPU. Also, its display offers a higher resolution with an impressive pixel density of 403 ppi. In addition, it comes with a superior 4,050 mAh battery with the incorporation of several more sensors.

The Intex Aqua Music is priced at Rs. 9,317 and comes in two colours – silver and grey. It will come with a one-year manufacturer warranty and a six-month warranty for accessories in the box. Although the smartphone has been officially unveiled, it is yet to be made available for online booking.
