Intex has unveiled a new smartphone called Intex Cloud String HD and it is one of the best phones you can buy for less than Rs. 6,000. Here’s a quick look at the specifications on the Intex Cloud String HD.
Specifications – Intex Cloud String HD
The Intex Cloud String HD has a 5 inch On-cell display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. The phone comes with a 1.3 GHz Quad Core Spreadtrum SC9832A processor alongside a 1 GB RAM. The video and graphics processing also gets a boost thanks to the Mali-400 GPU. The internal storage on the phone is 8 GB and it is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot.
The primary camera on the phone is an 8 megapixel unit that comes with dual LED flash and allows for HD video recording. The secondary camera is a 5 megapixel unit and would suffice all your selfie needs. As one has come to expect from Intex now, the dual SIM phone is 4G enabled. Intex has been launching entry level phones that are 4G enabled so there is no reason why phones priced relatively higher compared to an entry level device would not be 4G enabled.

The battery capacity of the Intex Cloud String HD is 2200 mAh. According to Intex on a single full-charge the battery will last up to 7 hours in talktime and up to 190 hours in standby time on a 2G network. This is just a little worrying according to me. 2200 mAh isn’t a bad battery capacity to offer for a phone priced under Rs. 6,000 by current market standards but if it lasts 7 hours in talktime on a 2G network than it may not last very long on a 4G network. Even if we consider the fact that a sizable chunk of India’s urban smartphone-savvy population uses 3G network, the phone’s battery might not last more than a few hours.
This is particularly important to point out because this phone is getting a lot of media coverage based on the fact that it supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and HD voice calls. Now if your going to offer 4G connectivity and VoLTE support you know that some customers buying the product have an incentive to be on 4G networks for longer periods of time.
This begs the question – as a smartphone brand why would you not offer the customer the full capability to enjoy 4G connectivity and VoLTE support? Surely that battery isn’t going to long very long if making frequent VoLTE calls and regular 4G browsing is why certain customers end up buying the phone. For everyone else this would be a smooth experience no doubt.

The Cloud String HD weighs a mere 150 grams which isn’t too bad for its form factor. The phone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
To me the Intex Cloud String HD is a pretty unique case as far as the Intex portfolio of smartphones is concerned. This is because on the one hand Intex is offering a pretty good phone with cutting edge tech and on the other the trade-off is a rather unimpressive battery capacity if you are going to use that cutting edge tech a lot. However, if you are going to be using 4G and VoLTE on a pretty regular basis the Intex Cloud String HD qualifies as a best buy for its price.
