Before we delve further into exactly how innovative this new product from Intex is let’s take a quick glance at the specifications on the Intex Aqua Twist.
Specifications – Intex Aqua Twist
The Intex Aqua Twist comes with a 5 inch display and a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The Aqua Twist has a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processing unit alongside Mali-400MP2 GPU. Giving its processing power a bit of a boost is the 1 GB RAM on the phone. The Aqua Twist has an 8 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card.
The 5 megapixel camera on the Intex Aqua Twist is its USP as it serves as both the primary and the secondary camera, but more on that later. The battery capacity on the Aqua Twist is a decent 2200 mAh unit that will provide up to 8 hours of talk time and 275 hours of standby time. The phone weighs a good 175 grams which is commendable for its form factor. The Aqua Twist is powered by the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
The Twist camera on the Aqua Twist is a bit of a novelty for a budget phone
Intex has been dishing out some very unique smartphones of late and the Aqua Twist is no different. The Indian company has recently launched the Intex Aqua Fish, which is the first phone powered by Jolla’s Sailfish OS 2.0. With the Aqua Fish Intex became the world’s first licensing partner of the Sailfish OS to utilize the Sailfish OS in its devices.

Intex’s focus with the Aqua Fish is to offer an alternate user experience to smartphone users who may be looking to try on something other than an Android, iOS, or Windows experience on a mobile. Now with the Aqua Twist Intex has added more flavor to its budget phone segment.
The camera on the Aqua Twist flash, digital zoom, auto focus, and a few other standard camera features that smartphone consumers are now familiar with. But it is the camera’s innovative design which makes it a novelty. You can roll the camera on the Intex Aqua Twist to transform it from the rear camera to the front facing selfie camera. While this is certainly not the first time this technology has been introduced in a smartphone, the fact that this technology is available on a budget phone is certainly a novelty.
We are not trying to argue that the twist camera on the Aqua Twist requires extraordinary efforts on the part of the hardware design engineers at Intex, which may actually be the case, instead we are simply suggesting that hardly any smartphone brand bothers to introduce an innovative hardware component in the budget phone segment. And for that we believe Intex deserves a pat on the back.
We can’t wait to see which new innovation Intex brings to the budget phone category through its Aqua series of smartphone going forward. An Indian smartphone brand is making efforts to innovate in the budget and low-budget phone categories, stay tuned!
