India’s third largest smartphone maker Intex launched an entry level phone earlier this month. The new Intex Cloud Fame 4G promises to be a rather unique addition to Intex’s entry level segment. Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on the Intex Cloud Fame 4G.
Specifications – Intex Cloud Fame 4G
The Intex Cloud Fame 4G comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with a screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels which is protected from accidental damages thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass technology. The phone boasts of a 1 GHz quad core processor and a 1 GB RAM to enhance its performance. The internal storage on the Cloud Fame 4G is a standard 8 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot.

The Cloud Fame 4G has a 5 megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash, digital zoom, and auto focus. Perhaps the most compelling bit about the Cloud Fame 4G is the fact that the dual SIM phone comes with 4G connectivity. While there are smartphones priced around Rs. 5,000 that do boast of 4G connectivity, this still isn’t a prominent feature in entry level smartphones just yet. So kudos to Intex for coming up with a product that offers 4G connectivity at less than Rs. 4,000.
The Cloud Fame 4G comes with a battery capacity of 1800 mAh. This would allow the phone to have a talktime of up to 7 hours and a standby time of up to 270 hours. Thanks to its form factor the Cloud Fame 4G weighs a mere 120 grams. Another clincher for this phone is the fact that it offers the latest version of Android. The Intex Cloud Fame 4G is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. At the moment there is hardly any competitor that offers Android 6.0 on an entry level smartphone. A definite win there for Intex.
Intex’s growing diverse portfolio is testament to the company’s long term growth strategy
Intex has launched some of the most compelling smartphones in the first half of this year. The company has been heavy on innovation and has come up with some products that are unique in their own right this year. The one interesting bit that is now becoming increasingly obvious is that Intex isn’t focusing on a couple of price segments. Intex wants to be there when a customer wants a high-end phone and Intex wants to be there when another customer needs a good entry level phone.

While Intex may not be competing with the likes of Datawind just yet in the entry level segment they are slowly getting there. If the launch of the Intex Cloud Fame with 4G connectivity and Android 6.0 Marshmallow is anything to go by then we can be rest assured that Intex wants to build what would qualify as one of the most diverse smartphone portfolios in the market. A long term strategy with 4G connectivity at its core is a great option to go with as far as the current smartphone market is concerned.
The Intex Cloud Fame 4G may come across as just another entry level phone with a couple of cool features at a relatively low price but it marks the beginning of Intex’s efforts to crowd the entry level market with features that are generally cited as high-end smartphone features.
