Karbonn recently launched a phablet for the Indian market. The new Karbonn Titanium Mach Six sounds like something right out of a NASA handbook but believe me it’s a budget phone from one of India’s leading homebred smartphone brands. Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on this phone.
Specifications – Karbonn Titanium Mach Six
The Karbonn Titanium Mach Six comes with a 6 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone has a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor alongside a 2 GB RAM which means that it boasts of a pretty good performance rig. The internal storage of the Mach Six is 16 GB and it can be expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot. This is a good time to point out that the internal storage on budget phones has seen a gradual but definite increment this year. A 16 GB storage has become more of a norm this year as compared to an 8 GB storage last year.

The primary camera on the Karbonn Titanium Mach Six is an 8 megapixel unit which supports LED flash, auto focus, digital zoom, and night vision technology. The secondary camera on the phone is a 3.2 megapixel unit. Perhaps not the best selfie camera going around but hey you can’t have it all in a phone that costs less than Rs. 7,000. In terms of connectivity the phone supports 3G but not 4G, which is a bit of a shame because most phones these days, irrespective of the price segment they fall in, support 4G connectivity.
The Mach Six weighs 163 grams which is a decent weight for its form factor. The battery on the Mach Six is a 3300 mAh unit. That is surely commendable considering that some of Karbonn’s competitors prefer to keep it under 3,000 mAh in this price segment. Then again the Mach Six is a phablet and does have that tiny bit extra space to accommodate for a slightly bigger battery unit. According to the company the battery would provide a talktime of up to 6 hours on a single full charge and up to 180 hours of standby time.
The Mach Six is powered by the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. This goes to show that a number of brands are yet to adopt the latest version of Android on their budget phones. The likes of Intex are already doing it so there is no reason why Karbonn shouldn’t do it now.
Karbonn is still largely focused on budget phones
While it is true that Karbonn has produced some decent phones in the mid-range price segment the company’s focus on budget phones is pretty clear. Earlier this year Karbonn launched the Quattro L50 HD and it is an impressive budget phone. At the moment there is only one Karbonn smartphone that costs over Rs. 20,000 and I am not sure why it costs that much as there are much better options available in its place.
This clearly highlights Karbonn’s market focus. Unlike their more fancied Indian competitors Karbonn has decided to stick to what it does best at the moment and that is unleashing some good quality budget phones in the market.
