Chinese tech juggernaut LeEco has slowly but surely infiltrated the Indian smartphone market with some great products. Be it SmartTVs or electric car concepts, LeEco has ensured that it remains in the news and does so in style. In the smartphone segment the company has already created a loyal fan base in India. Of course, LeEco has a long way to go when it comes to dominating the market share metrics but there is no doubt that an array of very impressive smartphones launched this year have made an impression in the Indian market.
The company has now introduced a new mid-range smartphone called the LeEco Le S3. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications on this phone.
Specifications – LeEco Le S3
The LeEco Le S3 comes with a 5.5 inch IPS in-cell display that has a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. A 1.8 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor alongside an Adreno 510 GPU and a 3 GB RAM make the Le S3 a pretty impressive performer.
The internal storage capacity on the LeEco Le S3 is 32 GB. This may comes as a bit of a surprise to fans because LeEco has previously offered phones with better internal storage in near about a similar price range. However, there is one thing that nobody can fault LeEco with and that is the camera configuration on its phones.

The LeEco Le S3 comes with a 16 megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection autofocus, and dual LED flash. The secondary camera is an 8 megapixel unit with f/2.2 aperture and 76.5 degree wide angle lens to help you with that mandatory selfie at parties.
The Le S3 is a dual-SIM phone (LTE + LTE) with 4G connectivity and VoLTE support. The dimensions on the phone are 151.1 x 784.2 x 7.5 mm and the phone weighs 153 grams. Another interesting feature on the Le S3 is the battery capacity. The battery capacity on this phone is a decent 3000 mAh. This is interesting because we were expecting LeEco to come up with higher battery capacities in its mid-range phones.
Having said that the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has given many smartphone brands a lot to think about in terms of trying to improve battery efficiency and capacity. As a smartphone brand this is certainly not the time you want to be in the news for exploding phones.
The battery does support Quick Charge 3.0. So you can expect it to charge quick and drain slow, which is what the Quick Charge technology ensures.
I am pretty certain that the Le S3 isn’t a smartphone that LeEco had planned for launch in the last 6 months. This is because the Le S3 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS while most brands have already adopted the latest versions of Android – the Android 7.0 Nougat.
In a competitive price segment LeEco might want to use aggressive pricing
While the Le S3 is a pretty decent phone on its own, it is up against some really seriously money makers in this price segment. Some of the direct competitors that the LeEco Le S3 is going up against include the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note 4 GB, Samsung Galaxy On8, Motorola Moto X Play 32 GB, and Lenovo Z2 Plus 32 GB.
While all of these smartphones are doing well in the Indian market as of now, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note is clearly a hot favorite in this price segment. Except a 13 megapixel primary camera the Vibe K5 Note is spec to spec the better phone when compared to the Le S3. It is also priced less than the current expected price of the Le S3.
One has to assume that LeEco has kept the competition in mind and might just consider aggressive pricing for this price segment to get a better response from the Indian market. The aggressive pricing, if it does come to that, would not be a surprise coming from LeEco because the company is already known for that. Recently, LeEco launched the LeEco Super3 X55 LED TV in India and with aggressive pricing helped it grab far more eyeballs than any smartTV before it in this part of the world.
