Earlier this year Lenovo had launched its most awaited smartphone in a long time. The successor to one of Lenovo’s best selling products – Lenovo K3 Note – was introduced in January this year as the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note. Now the company has released the wooden edition of the Vibe K4 Note. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications on this phone and then we will briefly analyze how it’s different from some other Lenovo smartphones launched after the Vibe K4 Note’s launch earlier this year.
Specifications – Lenovo Vibe K4 Note Wooden Edition
The Lenovo Vibe K4 Note Wooden Edition comes with a 5.5 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (401 ppi). The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The phone has a 1.3 GHz Octa Core Mediatek 6753 processor alongside the Mali-T720MP3 GPU. The 3GB RAM on this phone is what made it a stand out product at the time of its launch.
The internal storage is 16 GB but can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card slot. The primary camera on the phone is 13 megapixel with dual-LED flash and PDAF, while the secondary camera is 5 megapixel. From the time this phone was first launched these specifications have gone from being “pretty good” to “standard”. That’s how fast tech changes in the modern world.

This is a dual-SIM phone and is 4G enabled. The dimensions on the phone are 153.6 x 76.5 x 9.2 mm. The phone weighs 158 grams, which isn’t too bad considering some major mid-range phones with similar form factors launched after January have actually weighed more.
The battery capacity on this phone is 3300 mAh, which is still a pretty good specification to boast of in the Vibe K4 Note’s price segment. Some key sensors on the phone are – fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor.
Some other key features include Fast Charger 2.0, Finger print gestures, Knock to wake, and camera trigger shortcut. While the phone comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS installed, it is possible to upgrade it to Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
The major change between the earlier launch and this one of course is the fact that this is an add-on design upgrade. The phone looks and functions exactly the same but the wooden frame will bring a sense of satisfaction to the gadget nerds who prefer wooden design over a metallic frame on their smartphones. Other than the Vibe K4 Note, Lenovo had also launched the Lenovo Vibe X3 earlier this year. The Vibe X3 has also done well in terms of sales for the Chinese multinational.
Why did Lenovo launch a wooden edition 6 months after the initial launch?
As it turns out Lenovo Vibe K4 Note is a massive success. There were doubts whether the Vibe K4 Note could live up to the reputation of its predecessor, the K3 Note, but all those speculations have been put to bed.
The Vibe K4 Note has sold over 750,000 units. The phone has seen astronomical success and has sold 250,000 units in the last 3 months alone. This should make the idea of launching a wooden edition pretty clear. Lenovo wants the buzz around the Vibe K4 Note to continue and perhaps a little hype and renewed media interest wouldn’t hurt its cause.
The phone is quickly headed towards the 1 million sales mark that will further establish Lenovo’s legacy of launching products that have had a big impact on the market.
