Many users of the phone Nexus 5X complained after the constant boot loops problem and after some research made by the company, LG US is now offering full refund for users facing it. It is a rare case of refund because usually the company instead of refunding the money actually repair the phone for free, replace or provide a refurbished one. The decision taken by LG US to give full refund is due to unavailability of repair spare parts. The issue related to boot loop was for the first time seen in September on updating the LG phone with Android 7.0 Nougat and as per Google who were responsible for selling the phone said the issue is a hardware issue and not software.
Statement given by LG for refund
There was a statement made by LG which confirmed that due to unavailability of the repair part there is full refund provided for the problematic handsets. LG said – “We’re sorry to hear that you’ve experienced a problem with your LGH790 and appreciate you giving us the opportunity to provide a warranty repair. We have received your device at our repair facility but currently a part to complete the repair is out of stock and is no longer available.” They also made the statement that in order to compensate for the issue they are offering full refund amount on the device and it might take around 4 weeks for one to receive the refund money.
Refund Policy for the defunct handset
The information about offering the full refund was brought across by Reddit users and it was found that users who have give their phone for repair were receiving e-mail regarding the full refund. According to the e-mail the policy for return is very simple where the company is asked to give a sales receipt and the company would determine the exact amount that is to be refunded to the user before returning the money to be credited in 4 weeks.
Conclusion
On finding the problem for the first time, the users were directed to contact the place of purchase to check with warranty or send phone for repair. The company though started complete refund instead of repair and has already started in US as of now. The LG Nexus 5x launched in October, 2015 with one year of warranty and with the refund starting in US, it is most likely to also start globally.
