Lyf Wind 1 with Snapdragon 410 Processor and VoLTE Support Unveiled

Lyf has launched a new smartphone called the Lyf Wind 1. This is yet another budget phone from Lyf. Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on this phone.

Specifications – Lyf Wind 1

The Lyf Wind 1 comes with a 5 inch display with screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is protected from any accidental damages thanks to the Asahi Dragontrail glass protection. The phone boasts of a 1.2 qualcomm quad Core Snapdragon 410 processor alongside an Adreno 306 GPU. The phone has a 1GB RAM that compliments the Snapdragon 410 processor very well to improve the performance of the phone.

The internal storage on the phone is a standard 16 GB which is the expandable up to 64 GB using a Micro SD card slot. 16 GB of internal storage has now become synonyms with most modern smartphones in 2016.

The primary camera on the Lyf Wind 1 is an 8 megapixel unit which supports LED flash, geotagging, face detection, and touch focus. The secondary camera on the phone is a 5 megapixel unit which will not disappoint smartphone users who are addicted to taking selfies.

The dual sim phone supports 4G connectivity. The Lyf Wind 1 also supports VoLTE. One has now come to expect all modern smartphones to be 4G enabled. This is such a trend now that phones which support only 3G connectivity are considered not in touch with technological advances.

The Lyf Wind 1 weighs a mere 125 grams. That is exceptionally good for a phone with such a form factor. Most smartphones that have a 5 inch display weigh a lot more than 125 grams. The battery capacity of this phone is 2300 mAh. The company claims that on a single full charge the phone would last up to 6 hours in talk time and up to 460 hours in standby time.

The Lyf Wind 1 is powered by Android 5.1 lollipop OS. While this is not essentially a drawback one would expect Lyf to start including Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS in its budget phones soon. As a smartphone brand in 2016 you cannot afford to lose the competitive edge over your competitors by falling behind in the adoption rate cycle of the latest mobile operating system. This is a lesson Lyf must learn if they wish to make a dent in the diverse and highly saturated Indian smartphone market.

What is Lyf’s immediate product strategy?
Other than the Lyf Wind 1 Lyf has also introduced a few new 4G enabled smartphones. One of the new ones is the Lyf Water 7. A number of smartphone brands these days are focusing on the 4G strategy. The idea is to dish out as many 4G powered smartphones as possible so that when the 4G tech takes off in a big way you have enough 4G powered smart phones in the market to take advantage of.

So it is not surprising to see Lyf follow in the footsteps of its competitors Micromax and Intex to prepare of solid groundwork for the future. Whether or not Lyf can improve its product portfolio to such an extent that it is able to reap long term benefits from this strategy is something only time can tell.
