Meizu has unveiled its latest Android smartphone powered by an octa core processor for the Chinese market. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications on the new Meizu m3s.
Specifications – Meizu m3s
The Meizu m3s comes with a 5 inch iPS display that has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This is a 2.5D curved glass display of course that many smartphone brands these days are happy to unveil. The phone comes with an octa core MediaTek MT6750 processor alongside a Mali T860 GPU.
One would have to say that that’s a pretty powerful processing unit for a phone that will be priced less than Rs. 10,000. Add to this a 3 GB RAM and this becomes all the more attractive to a consumer who is looking for a budget phone that can compete with some of the best mid range smartphones out there today.

The internal storage on this phone is 32 GB. This internal storage capacity can be expanded up to 128 GB using a Micro SD card slot. Once again that sounds like a bargain for any potential customer who is looking for that elusive smartphone that offers high-end specifications for the price of a budget phone.
The primary camera on the phone is a 13 megapixel unit that supports dual tone LED flash and phase detection auto focus. The secondary camera is a 5 megapixel unit. While at first glance this may not sound like high quality camera configuration thanks to the ever improving camera specs, one must take into consideration the value for money point of view. At just over Rs. 9,000, this is as ‘value for money’ as it gets.
The dual sim phone does support 4G connectivity, as one would expect from a smartphone in 2016. The battery capacity on the Meizu m3s is 3020 mAh. When compared to what some of Meizu’s competitors are offering in this price segment that is a pretty impressive battery specification.
The phone is powered by the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS but essentially the user interface on this phone is dictated by Meizu’s Flyme OS 5.1. The Flyme OS is a proprietary Meizu UI.
The Meizu m3s will be available in 2 variants
The phone discussed above is actually one of the two variants of Meizu’s latest budget phone. In fact this is the more expensive of the two variants. If you are not surprised yet then get ready for a surprise. The company has also unveiled a 16 GB variant that will come with a 2 GB RAM.

This seems like a strategy that a number of Chinese smartphone makers are adopting. Xiaomi has also been using the same strategy in China for quite some time now. The latest offering from Xiaomi is the Redmi 3S, which is also available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants. What is this does is it allows smartphone brands to cater to the more conservative buyers in specific price segments.
If someone wanted my opinion on the new Meizu m3s, I would say if you are looking for an Android phone under Rs 10,000, this is the one phone I would recommend. Then again iSpyPrice exists so that consumers can decide for themselves which product suits their definition of a “best buy”.
