Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on the Canvas Spark 3.
Specifications – Micromax Canvas Spark 3
The Canvas Spark 3 comes with a 5.5 inch display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The 1.3 GHz quad core processor and the 1 GB RAM give this phone more than decent processing power. The internal storage on the phone is 8 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot. The phone comes with an 8 megapixel primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 5 megapixel secondary camera to help you snap some good looking selfies.
Interestingly, the dual-SIM phone does not support 4G connectivity. This is interesting because Micromax has been dishing out 4G phones at the rate of knots, especially in the low-budget segment. Micromax has been so bullish on the 4G phones strategy that now it seems a little weird that the company is unveiling a non 4G phone in the low-budget segment.
The Canvas Spark 3 comes with a battery capacity of 2900 mAh, which is actually pretty good for a phone that is priced under Rs. 6,000. Micromax has been able to roll out some pretty good phones in the low-budget segment that sport decent battery specs. The Micromax Canvas Spark 3 is another such device.
Who is the Canvas Spark 3 competing against?
When it comes to the low-budget segment it is not so much the fancied specifications that influence consumer buying behaviors as it is the price of the phone itself. The reason why a consumer buys a low-budget phone is more often than not because of budget considerations. So, if as a smartphone maker, you are going to compete against others in the low-budget segment you have to ensure that your product is competitively priced and packs in a good number of features.

Your product may not have the top specs in that price range but it should have all the basic bases covered, if that makes sense. This is why the Canvas Spark 3 is not just competing for specs but also for being better priced against some of its competitors. But I would argue that the Canvas Spark 3 will likely be competing with some phones priced lower than it. One such phone is the Xolo Era 4G. Priced well below Rs. 5,000 and with specs similar to the Canvas Spark 3 the Xolo Era 4G will likely pip the Canvas Spark 3 because of the 4G edge it boasts of.
Some other Xolo and Intex phones will be direct competitors to the Canvas Spark 3.
