Motorola is teasing the launch of a new smartphone called the Motorola Moto E3 Power in India. This product has already been launched in Hong Kong. We are pretty certain that the product is all set to make its debut in India as it has been spotted on the website that tracks import and export for India – Zauba. The rumour mill has also gone into overdrive because Motorola India’s official Twitter account has shared a bit of a teaser in the form of a Prisma filtered image.

Clearly Moto India is promoting a smartphone that will boast of a powerful battery. We know that the battery on the Moto E3 Power is an impressive 3500 mAh. Also, the use of the word “power” is a bit of a giveaway. So, let’s take a closer look at the specifications on this phone.

Specifications – Motorola Moto E3 Power

The Motorola Moto E3 Power comes with a 5 inch IPS display that has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone will boast of a 1 GHz Quad Core MediaTek MT6735P processor alongside a Mali-T720 GPU. Add to this mix a 2 GB RAM and the Moto E3 Power becomes a pretty decent contender in the budget phone segment.

The internal storage on the phone is only 16 GB but it can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card slot. The camera configuration on the Moto E3 Power comprises of a decent 8 megapixel primary camera, with LED flash and auto focus, and a reasonably good selfie camera in the form of a 5 megapixel front facing camera unit.

This is a dual SIM smartphone with support for 4G connectivity. The phone will be available in the black colour variant. As of now there are no emerging details of a new colour variant.

The USP of the Moto E3 Power is its battery. The 3500 mAh battery is a very good offering from Motorola in this price segment considering several smartphone brands offer similar or even lesser battery capacities on their flagship products. A case in point is the HTC 10, which is no doubt a quality high-end phone but its battery capacity just leaves a lot to be desired. The battery on the HTC 10 is 3000 mAh and it costs 5 times more than the Moto E3 Power.

The comparison should obviously only with be considered in terms of battery capacity as otherwise the HTC 10 is a far superior phone. We are hoping brands like HTC and Samsung start focusing on improving the battery tech on their phones. In HTC’s case it’s the high-end products that seem to fall behind in the battle of batteries while in Samsung’s case it’s even worse; Samsung needs to up its battery game on not just the high-end phones but also the mid-range and budget phones.

The Motorola Moto E3 Power will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. As of this writing, there are no announcements from Motorola, or its parent company Lenovo, about an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Android Nougat was released earlier this week. However, Motorola has already announced a list of its products that will get an update to the latest Android OS version.

The Motorola Moto E3’s latest incarnation is the only Motorola phone that will receive the Android Nougat update, as per current reports. So there is a good chance that the Moto E3 Power may also get an early look in at Android 7.0.
