Last year when Chinese brand OnePlus announced its OnePlus 2 smartphone it generated unprecedented hype. Well, it seems the company’s latest product stands to generate as much hype as its predecessor, or perhaps, even more. Here is everything we know about the OnePlus 3 so far.
Specifications – OnePlus 3
The OnePlus 3 specs were leaked online via the AnTuTu benchmark results, which were first spotted by Chinese gadget website GizmoChina.
The OnePlus 3 is rumoured to sport a 5.5 inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 as its protective shield. The phone will likely sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor alongside the Adreno 530 GPU. The phone is likely to boast of a 4GB RAM and a 32 GB internal storage capacity.

The primary camera on the OnePlus 3 will likely be a 16 megapixel unit with dual LED flash, while the secondary camera could be an 8 megapixel unit. The dual SIM phone will almost certainly be powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
Speculative specifications aside the OnePlus 3 will need to live up to the design brilliance that consumers have come to expect of OnePlus phones. The thing about expectations is that they either help you rise above them or swallow you whole. As a brand OnePlus does exude the confidence of a corporation which understands its market position very well, so one expects the OnePlus 3’s design to be anything but ordinary.
What does OnePlus’ April event have in store for its fans?
Earlier it was being speculated that the OnePlus 3 will be launched on April 7 but as it turns out that is not the case. The company made it clear recently that its April 7 event has nothing to do with the launch of its next flagship product. Now that we know that the OnePlus 3 isn’t coming out on April 7 and would probably be launched after that event, one wonders what other product the OnePlus event could unveil!
There are certain reports coming in that suggest that OnePlus’s April 7 event could be the day OnePlus announces its new HydrogenOS. In a statement to Android Authority a OnePlus spokesman revealed the following:
The April 7 event is focused on the China market. We will not be launching our next device then.. The only thing we can confirm is that [it] will be an awesome product.
This is a pretty interesting development and says a lot about OnePlus’s focus market. While the Chinese company has been making a foray into international markets like India, their core focus remains their home territory. It is a smart business tactic from OnePlus to hold events that exclusively focus on one market, in this case the China market.

By doing so they can continue to build global and local presence at a decent pace without compromising on their positions in either market. This could be a lesson for companies OnePlus’ Chinese competitors like Xiaomi which have lost a bit of momentum in China despite their continual global rise.
