Panic Button specific to India soon feature of Nubia Z11, N1

As announced by ZTE on Wednesday, its phone Nubia Z11 and Nubia N1 is soon to get the panic button that is specific for India. The panic button will be a great help for Indian and will be made available for users via a Software update in the phones. As confirmed by the company the existing phone will get a update via software and the new phones from Nubia will have an in-built panic button feature.

Use of the Panic Button

It is made a mandate by Indian Government that all the phones that will be launched from 1st January 2017 have to include a panic button. It was confirmed by Nubia that the existing users of the phone will be able to use the panic button on updating the device. The users will be able to use the panic button by pressing thrice the power button and getting them connected to helpline. Although it was made compulsory by Indian government to sell phones with panic phone starting 1st January, the deadline has been extended for two months more to include the panic button. Apple has already rolled out the panic button feature via a software update last year in December.

Connecting via the panic button

With alarming crime rates, it is great initiative to include a panic button in the ZTE phone. The Nubia users can download the software for the panic button from the official website of the company. As released in a press statement, the distress calls made using the panic button will connect the user directly to 100 which is the number for police. In future it is likely to be connected to a single number created for emergency 112, which will be a toll free number and calls will be connected even without balance in customer’s account. The only requirement for making the distress call using the panic button is by pressing the power button along with an activated SIM card.

Eric Hu, Country Manager of Nubia India commented on addition of the panic button – “We adhere by the Indian government’s directive and its laws. Additionally, we would want every individual to be safe always.” It is an effort by Nubia to make technology more effective and safe for people with enhanced security.
