Report Says: OLED will take over LCD in Smart Phone displays by 2020

Innovations are always there in the tech world. After a successful journey of about 15 years, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) displays may get replaced by the latest OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays. There are several improvements in OLED over the LCD Display which suggests that OLED will take over from LCD by 2020.

The things which makes OLED better than LCD are OLED Display’s are more flexible, these are thinner than LCD and the most amazing thing these are more power effective which means consumes low power than the LCD Display.

The Tech Giants who have adopted the OLED or will adopt OLED soon are Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Meizu Technology, Xiaomi, BLU, Lenovo, Motorola, ZTE, Asus, OnePlus. Apple may also adopt OLED for its iPhone 8. The Smart Phones which has OLED or may have it in near future are Redmi Pro, BLU Energy XL, One Plus 3, Moto Z, Zuk Z2 Pro, ZTE Axon 7, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Samsung Galaxy C7, Samsung S7, Samsung C5, Meizu’s Pro 6 etc.

Universal Display Corporation (A Supplier of Raw Materials for OLED) reported that its stock has increased more than 40% in the past 1 year. The report also said that AMOLED displays with a LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-Silicon) will be available in 36% of all Smart Phones in 2020. By leaving behind the Display Screens such as Amorphous Silicon (a-Si), TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD and LTPS TFT LCD Displays, OLED’s will become the leader in the Smart Phone display Market by 2020.

Business Site “investors.com” also said that Samsung, Oppo, Huawei and many more Smart Phone brands have increased the demand of OLED which suggests that new Smart Phones from these brands will equip OLED displays rather than having the LCD. Now days many Phone are using AMOLED & PMOLED type OLED Displays. This new transformation will save users Battery as well as eyes too because these OLED are really better than the LCD’s.
