Samsung has unveiled a pretty impressive Galaxy S7 variant that is sure to make heads turn and the clumsy among us take a sigh of relief. The new Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is the everything-proof smartphone you and I have been waiting for. To start with let’s take a closer look at the specifications on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
Specifications – Samsung Galaxy S7 Active
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active comes with a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display that has a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, which translates to a pixel density of 567 ppi. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 technology will ensure that the display is protected from any accidental falls and scratches. The S7 Active will be powered by a Quad Core Snapdragon 820 processor alongside an Adreno 530 GPU. The phone also boasts of a 4 GB RAM which surely gives its performance a big boost.
The internal storage on the Galaxy S7 Active is 32 GB, which is expandable up to 200 GB via a microSD card slot. That is clearly one of the best internal storage options going around and you can be certain that consumers will not be complaining about storage capacity on this phone. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has the same camera configuration as the Samsung Galaxy S7.

The primary camera on the phone is a 12 megapixel unit which supports LED flash, OIS, and PDAF, while the secondary camera is a 5 megapixel unit. While this may not be the best camera specification in the market compared to some of the phones that Samsung’s competitors are offering, it is still an extremely good specification for smartphone cameras.
This is a single SIM phone and supports 4G connectivity. The phone weighs 185 grams, which is quite a lot for a phone with its form factor. This may in fact be one of the heaviest phones, relatively speaking, out there today. This of course has a lot to do with its build. I will come to that in a bit.
The S7 Active packs a 4000 mAh battery, which is the best battery capacity Samsung has offered on its flagship phones thus far. It is certainly a great sign that Samsung has decided to step up its battery game. The company has seen some flak for not shipping the best battery specification in what are some of the best smartphones going around. The phone is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is the everything-proof phone some of us deserve
The USP of the Galaxy S7, other than its impressive specs of course, is that it is almost indestructible, unless of course you decide to crush it using a bulldozer. This is a waterproof phone much like its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, only better. It can last 30 minutes under water for a depth of up to 5 feet. It is also dustproof so to speak. And it can withstand many falls and shocks that would likely shatter most other smartphones. So if you are clumsy at handing your gadgets, this may be exactly what you have been waiting for.
Having said that it is not the prettiest smartphone Samsung has unveiled recently but that’s understandable for it needs to make a trade-off with design to accommodate a thicker build. That also explains why the phone weighs more than most others that have similar dimensions.
It is worth noting that the phone has currently only been launched in the US and there is as yet no official word from Samsung on when this will be available in India.
