Microsoft had unveiled its Surface Pro 4 Tablet earlier this year to which Google responded with the Google Pixel C and Apple Inc. joined the party with the Apple iPad Pro. Now Samsung has announced its work Tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S. Before we delve any deeper into the features of the Galaxy Tab Pro S let’s take a quick glance at the specifications on this Tablet.
Specifications – Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S
The Galaxy Tab Pro S comes with a 12 inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixel. The display is optimized for 4K video playback. The Galaxy Tab Pro S boasts of a powerful 2.2 GHz Dual Core Intel Core M processor whose processing power gets a serious fillip with a 4 GB RAM. As of now it seems the Tablet will be available in 2 variants – 128 GB and 256 GB of internal storage.
The Tablet has a 5 megapixel primary camera with 4x optical zoom, auto focus, and Full HD video recording capabilities. The secondary camera on a Tablet usually serves the purpose of facilitating video conferencing through apps such as Skype. So the 5 megapixel secondary camera should suffice.

The connectivity features on the Galaxy Tab Pro S are WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and a Type C USB 3.1 port. For its form factor the Tablet weighs a good 693 grams. It offers a 5200 mAh battery capacity which can be considered a decent capacity for a device in the work Tablet segment. The most important feature of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S is that it is powered by the Windows 10 OS.
Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS gets a major boost with the Galaxy Tab Pro S
On iSpyPrice we have constantly followed the growth of the Windows 10 OS. We have often noted the various partnerships Microsoft has entered to help propagate the Windows 10 OS and make it mainstream outside its own Surface ecosystem.
Last year we noted how Xiaomi entered the Microsoft Windows 10 race by giving the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 a Windows 10 option. Later HP entered the Windows fold with the HP Elite X3, Lava launched the Lava Twipad, and Alcatel unveiled the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL. These are all very different devices across the Tablet and smartphone segment and serve as a reminder that the Windows 10 OS is more than a worthy competitor to the leading mobile Operating Systems today.
Now with Samsung’s blockbuster Galaxy Tab series on their side Microsoft have found their most powerful ally yet. If history had to repeat itself the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S should ideally have been another Android device but it is not. This is a telling move from Samsung and the fact that Samsung now trusts the Windows platform for one of its top-of-the-line products is testament to Microsoft’s growing influence in the mobile OS market.
