The rumour mill is in overdrive mode. The much awaited successor to the Xiaomi Mi Note has made it to the headline gallery and will likely become the subject of much anticipation in the coming weeks. Yes, we are talking about the new Xiaomi Mi Note 2. What has sent the tech media into a state of frenzy is new information that has been released by GizChina regarding the Mi Note 2. Let’s take a look at what the claimed specifications on this smartphone are going to be like.

Specifications – Xiaomi Mi Note 2

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will likely sport a 5.7 inch display, which will reportedly be a full HD display for the low-end model and a QHD display for the high-end model. The display is expected to be a curved display which will come with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Mi Note 2 will most likely boast of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with an Adreno 530 GPU, which will make it the second Xiaomi device to boast of such powerful processor specs. The first of course is the Xiaomi Mi 5.

The Mi Note 2 is expected to be available in as many as 3 different variants. The first will be a 4 GB RAM/32 GB internal storage variant, the second will be a 6 GB RAM/64 GB internal storage variant, and the third will be a 6 GB RAM/128 GB internal storage variant. All three of these, I might add, would qualify as some of the best Android smartphones going around performance wise.

There is a lot of buzz around the rumour that the Mi Note 2 will likely boast of dual 12 megapixel primary cameras, which will support dual-LED flash. That would qualify the Mi Note 2 as among the best camera phones going around. Given the quality of cameras on Xiaomi devices it would not surprise us in the least if this camera duet ends up being touted as the best performing camera in the market when the Mi Note 2 eventually launches.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be a dual-SIM phone and will support 4G connectivity. Some other speculated specs include a fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. However, one of the specs that I believe pretty much nails the deal in favor of the Mi Note 2 for any customer looking to choose between this device and other devices with similar specs would be the battery on this phone.

The battery capacity on the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is 4000 mAh and it supports Quick Charge 3.0. If we compare this to the HTC 10 then even though the HTC 10 is a killer product in its own right, this becomes a no-brainer. HTC’s latest flagship, for all its glory, boasts of a 3000 mAh battery and will likely cost a little under twice as much as the Mi Note 2.

Of course there are other differences between the two phones that may give the HTC 10 a few bragging rights against the Mi Note 2, but that still doesn’t change the fact that the Xiaomi device has a way better battery at a much lesser price. As per the rumours, the 32 GB variant of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could cost around Rs. 25,000. So I wouldn’t blame you for choosing the Mi Note 2 over the HTC 10, if you do choose to go for it.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will, in all likelihood, be powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. This will certainly be a product to look forward to and could really help push Xiaomi’s presence a great deal further in the Indian smartphone ecosystem.
