ZTE Introduces a new Premium Phablet: ZTE Axon Max Launched in China

ZTE Corporation is one of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturers, which is a fact that surprises many people in India because it is not often in news as some of its competitors are. For once, we have a brand that prefers news only when it is required, which is the time of launch of its products and fairly well balanced marketing campaigns. This time the Chinese Telecommunications giant is in news for its latest phablet – the ZTE Axon Max.

Let’s take a quick glance at the specifications on this device.
Specifications – ZTE Axon Max
The ZTE Axon Max comes with a 6 inch FHD AMOLED display that has a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. The ZTE Axon Max has a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and a 3 GB RAM. The phone comes with 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via a microSD card.
Interestingly a lot of brands are now focusing on making the gap between the camera units on the rear and front as minimal as possible. This is of course due to the marketing gimmick that proclaims that a selfie culture has taken over our generation and everyone wants a good front facing camera so that the selfies on a friend’s birthday party come out just the way we desire. Now we know that selfies are no revolutionary idea but it does give mobile brands the opportunity to market to a certain type of consumer. Therefore, it is no surprise that the ZTE Axon Max comes with a 16 megapixel rear camera along with a 13 megapixel front camera for that perfect selfie.

The ZTE Axon Max is a dual-SIM mobile that supports two Nano-SIMs. The phone comes with a super impressive 4140 mAh non-removable battery. The Xon Max is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device also supports USC Type-C port and QuickCharge 2.0.
When can the Indian market expect to meet the ZTE Axon Max?
The ZTE Axon Max has been launched in China and there is no official word from ZTE Corporation when this phone will make its way into the Indian market. However, we have observed that ZTE likes to market devices in China before it introduces them to the Indian market and does so generally if the device is from a segment that does well in India. Going by this observation we are definitely expecting the ZTE Axon Max in India in the first half of 2016 because Indian consumers have started to take a liking to phablets of late.
ZTE Axon Max is not the only Axon device ZTE is currently pushing
Apart from the Axon Max, earlier this year ZTE introduced the ZTE Axon Pro, which made a few heads turn and did pretty well for ZTE, at least in the US. In the US market ZTE has had an image crisis for years. To understand ZTE’s predicament, a good analogy in India would be that of Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and OnePlus.

These are perfectly good brands and in some cases make the best smartphones going around but if you asked an average Indian consumer they are likely to distrust these brands simply because of the China tag.
Chinese brands do suffer from an image crisis and the same has been true for ZTE in the US. Many consumers see them as the Chinese mobile brand that dishes out cheap phones every year, which is of course not true of any modern Chinese smartphone brand, let alone ZTE. In that regard the ZTE Axon Pro helped shake off some of the pre-conceived ideas that consumers had about ZTE phones.
