Features and Specifications

The weight of the tablet is 487g and it also supports Micro SIM. The screen is very large i.e. 10.1-inch made up of TFT capacitive touchscreen technology that offers 16M colors. The resolution of the screen is 1280x800p and also supports multi-touch. The OS here is quite latest as it supports Android v4.4.2 KitKat with the support of 1.2GHz Quad-core processor which is indeed powerful one in this case. 1.5GB RAM has been provided to it while the built-in storage is 16GB which can be expanded further using the microSD card up to 64GB. The rear primary camera in this case is 3.15MP with geo tagging feature and able to record videos at 720p. The front secondary camera is 1.3MP used for the video conferencing and selfies. Battery in this case is 6800mAh Li-Po which is non-removable while many interesting connectivity features are also provided to it like microUSB, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, GPS, GSM and Bluetooth. It is available in black and white colors.

Design and Quality

This is a very large device and using it with one hand is not easy. The large screen provides very good viewing angles. At the bottom of the screen are the three keys among which one is physical home button while other two are the multitasking/multi-window keys and the back key. On the top of the screen is the Samsung logo as well as the front facing camera. It doesn’t have the speaker on the front but since it comes with calling functionality so best use of it can be either by the ear phone or the Bluetooth headset. On both left and right side of the tablet, there is one chrome finish speaker on each side while the 3.5mm headset jack is located towards the left side at the top of the speaker. At the top of the device there are standard buttons of power and volume rocker along with slots for SIM card and microSD card. Towards the back panel, it has fake textured leather finish similarly to one that was found in Galaxy Note 3 and the Grand 2. Towards the bottom is the charging port or the data transfer port. A silver lining is there all around the tablet which gives it a premium look. The display quality of the screen is very impressive.

OS and Tech

The OS is latest in this tablet which makes it upfront among all the tabs. The latest OS gives it smooth and fast running while the multitasking is also very quick in this case. The OS is fairly given nice support from the RAM as well the decent processor.

Camera and Multimedia

The rear camera is fixed focus so it doesn’t allow changing the focus by tapping the screen. The quality of pictures taken by it is quite decent and above average but still they are not high quality. For better camera experience, the recommended tab is Samsung Galaxy Tab S which has better 8MP camera with flash light. The videos recorded by it are also of average quality, but the other videos like YouTube are played very nicely on it and look nice on large screen. The front camera works ok for the selfies and the video calls.

Battery and Memory

The battery life is very inspiring here which give a one full day of device use under moderate usage. But the large battery would also take a lot of time to get recharged but still this is very impressive battery life. The RAM is nice enough while the internal storage is not bad and the expansion to the memory is also good.

Verdict

This is overall a very decent tablet but quite expensive and the price may not allow all people to buy it. It is down in its camera functionality but rest all features including the screen is very impressive. It is a tough competitor to many good brands tablets like the Apple iPad Air as this comes with larger screen than iPad Air.
