Karbonn Smart Tab 72 Tablet Price in India
Karbonn has come out with another tablet as they increase their presence in the ever growing tech tablet market with their Karbonn Smart Tab 72. Priced It is Karbonn’s attempt to bring the tablet in the common man’s hand. Tablets seem expensive on the outset but this one is sure to raise eyebrows owing to its competitive price. Karbonn is giving budget phone companies like Micromax, Lava and Intex a run for their money and this dual SIM tablet is a step in the same direction.
Features and Specifications
A tablet’s chief talking point is its display and that’s where we begin. The tablet has a screen measuring 7 inches. The display is stunning with a resolution of 1024X600 pixels. The tab is Wi-Fi and GPS enabled with Bluetooth v4.00. It has a micro USB port with a proprietary data connector. The tablet is dual SIM with both SIMs being GSM and supporting 3G networks. The tablet also comes with a proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light sensor. It lacks an HDMI port and WiFi direct technology. It has a 3.5 mm jack for earphone/headphones.
Design and Build
The tablet weighs 290 g which is almost twice that of a standard smartphone with its dimensions being 184.50X100X8.90 mm. The tablet has rounded ends and the screen is equidistant from the body edges on all sides. There are no navigation buttons outside the screen. The front only has the proximity sensor and a secondary camera lens. The back has the loudspeaker, primary camera at the top and the Karbonn logo in the middle. The side panel has a power button and volume control keys. It comes in three colours: black, white and grey. Looks wise, the tablet doesn’t disappoint and meets expectations.
OS and Tech
The giant is powered by a sturdy 1.3 GHz quad core processor which lends it enough firepower. The RAM is a little bit on the lower side measuring just 512 MB. The low RAM is the only thing that can limit the tab’s multitasking capabilities. On the software part, the tab runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat. No questions on the OS side as it is a tried and tested OS that has delivered across all platforms. The tab doesn’t possess java support and supports HTML browsers.
Camera and Multimedia
The primary camera at the back clicks pictures at 3.2 MP and also records videos. It also comes equipped with flash and autofocus. The secondary camera in the front is also 3.2 MP. While 3.2 MP is pretty good for a secondary camera, for a primary camera, it seems a little weak. On the camera department, the tablet is clearly lacking. It performs all the key multimedia functions like MMS, Email and IM. It also supports FM radio and has an inbuilt audio and video player. It can play both polyphonic and MP3 ringtones.
Battery and Storage
The tablet has a non-removable Li-ion battery which has an excellent capacity of 2800 mAh. This means that the tablet easily lasts a day and under normal usage can last a day and a half before asking to be plugged in a wall socket. The tab provides 4 GB of inbuilt storage which is more than enough for downloading and keeping sufficient number of apps. It also has a microSD card slot providing external storage. The external storage is expandable up to 32 GB. On the battery and storage front, the tablet does exceedingly well.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
· Affordable price
· Good battery back up
· Powerful processor
· Attractive looks
Cons:
· Average Camera
· Low RAM
· Lack of Wi-Fi direct technology
Verdict
Although the tablet is quite economical which makes it an interesting buy, it severely lacks on the RAM and camera. RAM is particularly important since a 512 MB RAM has proved to be insufficient in the current scenario where multitasking has become one of the most important aspects of a smartphone. The tablet will find its going tough against worthy competitors like Micromax Canvas tab P470, Lenovo A7-30 and iBall 3G 17 tablet. If all you need is a nice display to watch videos and scan documents, then this tablet is a smart buy considering how small a hole it burns in the pocket. If however power and performance is what you desire, the low RAM should worry you and make you look for other tabs in the market.
