After having some rest period, the manufacturers of the Akash Tablet, known as Datawind manufactured its new tablet by the name UbiSlate 10Ci. It is also available online on Snapdeal website. The company is known for manufacturing low cost devices. This device is only supporting Wi-Fi and no 3G support is available. However another tablet from this company which was also released with UbiSlate 10Ci do have 3G + Wi-Fi support and is named as UbiSlate 3G10. The performance and different features of the device are yet to be analyzed in this article.
Features and Specifications
The screen of Datawind UbiSlate 10Ci is quite large of 10.1-inch having resolution of 1024x600p and is of type capacitive touchscreen. The processor is 1.1GHz dual core and the RAM is 1GB. The internal storage in this device is 4GB which can be further extended using microSD card up to 32GB. The OS in this device is Android v4.4.2 KitKat. Two cameras are there, the rear one has 2MP capacity without flashlight while the front one is VGA. Only one sensor is provided in it known as G-sensor. The battery in this device is very large of 6000mAh but it doesn’t support any SIM which means no calling facility has been provided in it. The connectivity options are only Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This tablet comes at very affordable price.
Design and Quality
After considering the increasing interest of people in large screen devices, this company was the first ever manufacturers of the 9-inch large screen devices at affordable prices. Now the company is back with 10.1-inch screen which is exclusive of its class. The look of the device is very decent and the large screen has been fitted well inside the good quality plastic body. The power button and the volume rocker are placed towards the right hand side while the 3.5mm headset jack is at the top. The back of the tablet is made up of good quality plastic but the screen has not been protected from smudges and scratches through any protective layer.
OS and Tech
Very latest OS has been embedded into this low cost device which is no doubt an extraordinary effort from the company as many low cost devices are equipped with Jelly Beans OS. The performance of the device is quite decent but the low RAM and the mediocre quality processor make it work not much faster and at times, the lags has also been observed which will not in to the credit of this tablet.
Camera and Multimedia
Camera department has always been neglected in the tablets and the same has been happened here. The rear camera is just 2MP which has not been given any support from flashlight. So the quality of the images taken by it are not good and under low light, the performance of the camera gets worse. The front camera is mere VGA and is only used for the selfies and video chat but the quality is also compromised here. The other brother of this device UbiSlate 3G10 though has higher capacity camera which carries 5MP rear camera and the performance of the camera there is also better than this one. The videos can though be recorded by its rear camera but they are also of not impressive quality.
Battery and Memory
6000mAh battery is indeed a challenge for the company to maintain it. This much battery can hardly be found in any other low cost and even in expensive tablets. This is extraordinary addition from the company and it does serve its purpose to its fullest. This battery takes the tablet working for more than 16 hours which is a surprise but the drawback of having larger batteries is that they get more time to recharge completely. This battery also takes more than 4hrs to get 100% recharged. The internal storage is very less but since the support for the expansion to the memory has been provided so the memory gets expanded up to 32GB quite easily which is nice addition.

Verdict
The release of UbiSlate 10Ci from Datawind is a good start from the company and hopefully this will be welcomed by masses for having few much better features like large and good quality screen, excellent battery and the support for latest OS all at much low cost. This device is good for those who care for price more but this would equally be acceptable to almost everyone. Comparing this device with its brother 3G10, the later one is better as that is also low cost but has much better features than this one especially the camera department as well as 3G support.
