HCL ME U1 Tablet Price List in India

The HCL ME U1 tablet is one of the flagship offering from the Noida headquartered IT company. Many low budget tablets compromise on some essential features and only few manage to deliver a good user experience and value for money. ME U1 falls in the second category and is HCL’s another foray into budget tablet segment. The global IT service provider is already considered among the top 100 companies of Asia. However, only time will tell if it manages to bring a revolution in the tablet market. All of its products in the tablet market have provided decent user experience in build, screen, wireless connectivity and battery life. HCL ME U1 might have raised the expectations among potential buyers.

Features and Specifications

The tablet has a wide 7 inch LED capacitive multi touch screen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Android operating system is equipped with various specs which ensure speedy access to different applications. The single core processor and RAM power manages to take care of mundane tasks easily. However, theabsence of Google services such as Google Play for downloading applications is compensated with ME apps. Google search icon dominates the top left and main app launcher tray is situated on top right. Three touch keys are provided each for home, back and multitasking at bottom left.

Design and Quality

The device appears to be at par with competition levels of tablet market. Rear panel feels like flimsy around the ports which gives a sad feeling of wrenching out easily. The user can mount a pen drive and attach USB keyboards as per preference and requirements. Glossy white finish makes it a more of fingerprint magnet. Front panel comes with 0.3 megapixel camera and no physical buttons. Thus, the absence of buttons on the face provides a clean and plain look. When it comes to connectivity, ports are placed on right side which includes mini USB port, headphone jack and microSD card slot. Adding a full sized USB port makes it convenient to plug in 3G dongle into this device. When held in the landscape mode, the top portion has three small buttons out of which two are used for volume control and another one as on/off/sleep/wake switch. The white plastic body weighs approximately 350 gms which may feel heavier to hold.

The tablet runs a user friendly Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It is paired with 1 GHz cortex A8 processor and 512 MB RAM for the user to be in multiple places in a single moment. Rich notifications, resizable widgets, customizable home screen and deeper interactivity give unique ways of sharing and communicating. The integrated GRPS or EDGE connectivity enables the user to send mails, messages and access internet irrespective of location. Multi touch feature enhance functionality by providing swift navigation and typing experience. This tab is also compatible with 3G dongle which enables the user to surf the net at superfast speed.  Built in mono speaker system comprising 1.0 Watt speaker delivers both crisp and sharper audio quality.

The internal memory of 4GB can be easily expanded to 32 GB via microSD card. The mini USB and USB port enables the user to speedily transfer large amount of data and media files to and from one machine to another. It allows a secure and accurate transfer of even massive data files which may come handy while creating a data backup.

The HCL ME U1 tab can be regarded as average performer and lack of Google Play Store doesn’t make it cool enough. However, at a price range of Rs 7,000, it gives an above average user experience.
