Established in 2003, Pacetel Communications a.k.a. Lava International is an Indian Smartphone Manufacturer. Currently the country’s 5th most trusted smartphone brand, Lava is known for its Innovative approaches to find solutions for its smartphone. The brand even has a R&D facility in China to faster implement the growth process. With the budget segment in target, the company has made some decent launches over the years, including the Iris 455.

Features and Specifications

The Iris 455 supports Dual SIM and the size of the screen here is 4.5 inches, made with TFT Capacitive touchscreen offering a resolution of 16M colors. The on-board display is a qHD display with a resolution of 540x960 pixels and supports multi-touch. OS used in the device is Androidv4.1 Jelly Bean and processor and processor powering the handset is a 1GHz Dual Core Processor. There is a 512MB RAM on-board the Iris 455 along with 4GB of internal memory which as usual, can be expanded up to 32GB with the help of a Micro-SD card. The primary camera is a 5MP shooter with an LED flash. There is also a secondary 0.3MP front camera for selfies and rare, video chats. The rear camera is also capable of recording videos at 720p HD resolution. The battery here is a 1500mAh while all the connectivity features are provided with the smartphone like micro-USB, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Design and Quality

The build quality of the phone is quite good and the finishing is impressive. There is also an option for switching the back cover of the smartphone. The small size of the phone gives off the premium charm quite well and its compactness feels natural in the hands. All the buttons are located on the left side while the USB charger port and the headphone jack are at the top.

OS and Tech

The Lava Iris 455 runs on Android v4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The OS used in the smartphone is quite snappy and allows seamless “butter’’ User experience. Jelly Bean offers many new tweaks including the face detection feature and lag free performance guarantee thanks to the cortex dual core processor.

Camera and Multimedia

The Lava Iris 455 boasts a 5MP rear shooter with an LED flash. The camera has additional features like HDR, panorama, autofocus, etc. that make it stand out from the rest. The snaps taken by the camera is surprisingly impressive and the shutter speed is fast, no doubt. The rear camera also records videos at 720p HD resolution, which is a fine addition, considering the price tag of the phone. There is also a secondary camera on-board the Iris 455 i.e. 0.3MP shooter which takes pretty good shots for a VGA camera. The Smartphone has all the latest multimedia features in it including FM radio.

Battery and Memory

The battery providing the essential juice for the handset is a Lithium-Polymer 1500mAh battery. The battery might look small as compared to other smartphones, but again Lava has impressed us with its small powerhouse. The battery when completely charged lasts a day, even under its fair share of usage. There is a 512MB RAM on the phone along with 4GB of internal memory, out of which about 700MB is available for apps and 1.8GB for the gallery. The memory can be further expanded up to 32GB with the help of a Micro-SD card which suffices for the storage problems.

The smartphone packs some decent features for a budget smartphone and at a very good price, which is going to make many people think twice before deciding on a handset. Though, the device is going to face serious competition from other smartphones like Nokia Lumia 530 and Lava Iris 504Q which too pack some decent features to flaunt.
