Gionee Pioneer P1
Score
Gionee Pioneer P1 Mobile Price in India
This time Gionee comes up with a mid-range Android smartphone with the name Pioneer P1. The phone has very much affordable price and is at the range of almost every user. All the features and specifications provided in this device are very mediocre and there is nothing special about the handset.
Features and Specifications
The screen size for the device is 3.5-inch which is capacitive touchscreen. The processor is also very basic providing 1GHz single core power to the device. The internal storage is 512MB which is extendible further up to 32GB with the use of microSD card while the RAM is of 256MB. The back camera is also very rudimentary i.e. of 2MP while there is a VGA front facing camera. It supports dual SIMs and the OS provided to it Android v2.3.6 Gingerbread. The battery is of 1500mAh and the connectivity features include Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G.
Design and Quality
This phone is much bigger than Samsung Galaxy Y Duos besides being slim. The device doesn’t have any physical button at the front and there are three navigation touchscreen keys below the screen in front. Right now the phone is available in two colors in market i.e. black and white. The back of the device has mate finish while the front is made up of all glass. The quality of screen is good. Removing back panel gives little pain. At the left of the phone there is power button while at the right is the volume rocker. The feel of the device is quite solid when in hand and is heavier than Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The look and feel of the set is very ordinary and there is nothing special about its design. The display screen is of 3.5inch using IPs technology which can hardly be found for mid-range devices. The color saturation and the quality of the screen are amazing. Another awesome feature of the handset is that it generates very loud sound but the quality of sound is not very good.
OS and Tech
The smartphone Gionee Pioneer P1 is equipped with Android Gingerbread 2.3.6 along with proprietary skin residing on top of the OS. The OS is very much older so the performance may be compromised at times. The support from the RAM is also very minor as the RAM here is 256MB and it may prove as bottleneck if one wants to install too many apps.
Camera and Multimedia
The 2MP back camera is not capable enough to produce good photos. Since it has not been supported with LED flash so the night time photography experience is very weird. The camera here is just a standby component which doesn’t have to offer much. The video recording done by the camera is also of poor quality and the front VGA camera also lacks details while going for fallacies. Even with the mediocre phones, the camera has to be of acceptable quality but most of the Gionee brands lack focus on camera department.
Battery and Memory
The phone has 1500mAh battery which is quite a heavy battery for a mid-range device like Pioneer P1. This much battery is very well capable enough to last for whole day and a half under moderate use. Since no heavy games can be installed on it so this battery is enough for all normal tasks to be done on it for whole day. The RAM is 256MB and the internal storage is 512MB out of which only 150MB is available for user. Though the memory can be extended up to 32GB and the software in the device also support the transferring of apps on external storage from where they can easily be run from there.
Pros and Cons
For pros:
· Good screen quality
· Nice build
· 3G enabled
· Strong loudspeakers
· Proprietary skin
· Dual SIM and dual standby
· Low price
For cons:
· Poor camera
· Very little internal memory
· Old OS
· Limited RAM
Verdict
Keeping an affordable smartphone is becoming a trend these days. The reason is because many people are now wanted to remain connected with their friends and have become more mobile. In that situation, the Gionee Pioneer P1 is the right choice. This handset is suitable for everyone even for those who have tight budgets as it has usable and presentable features besides having good screen quality. This device is for sure not good for those who want updated technologically advanced handsets. There are many features which are not updated in this set like the OS, RAM and internal storage besides poor performing camera. Even then it works fine and has handsome performance but many features which may be available on ICS are absent in it like face unlock, latest camera software and many more. This is a true sense mediocre phone.
