Idea ID 920 Mobile Price in India
Idea has come up with many budget mobile devices and ID 920 is one of them. It is a dual SIM handset with decent connectivity options. The trend of network service providers coming up with phones which only run their SIM cards isn't new. However, it delivers an acceptable performance without sacrificing on quality standards. These entry level phones are primarily made for first time users who are looking for a basic smartphone. With most companies focusing on catering to the needs of intensive users, Idea is exploring a market which has less competition. However, there is no guarantee what future holds and Idea is leaving no stone unturned to reach as many customers as possible.
Features and Specifications
This idea ID 920 has a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display. It offers a smooth and effective touch function without any clutter. The makers should have provided with more than a below average 320 x 480 pixel resolution. With all the average specs, it seems to be primarily targeted at first time users. Fitted with a mediatek processor and low RAM, it manages to deliver an acceptable performance. Low end games such as stick cricket, carom and chess can be easily played on this device. There is no point in playing mid range games for it may leave an impact later. Using the device for normal day to day tasks will make it run smooth.
Design and Quality
Lightweight and sturdy build-up of the phone makes it slip into the pocket easily. The back panel is glossy but isn't slippery. It grips onto the hands quite comfortably without a slip up. Shiny body parts provide a decent appearance to the device. Despite a black body, it is absurd to have white colored power buttons and volume controller. There are three touch buttons below screen with different functionalities. Back panel has a white ringed circle bordering the primary camera. The speaker is located beside this camera and brand name is printed below. Considering the price, the screen should have been better alongside the plastic body. Audio quality is also average while playing a media file in loudspeaker setting.
Tech and OS
Idea ID 920 is powered by a Mediatek 6575 1 GHz processor which is paired with only 256 MB RAM. It provides a decent performance while accomplishing basic tasks like running apps, games, and similar activities. There is an Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS which runs the device smoother in normal day to day activities. This dual SIM phone also provides a fluid connectivity with 3G download speed of nearly 7.2 mbps. Users are getting Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and microUSB which are available in more expensive devices. Low price seems to be the real reason behind lesser technical specifications. It will serve the needs of people who have a tight budget.
Camera and Multimedia
With a 2MP rear camera, users can expect a below average photographic experience. There are minimal photo enhancing features as expected with such a low price. Absence of front facing camera shouldn't be an issue as it is same with the competitors. Users are deprived of video chatting and video calling facility as available in several smartphones these days. An inbuilt music player is compatible with a variety of audio media files. A pre-installed video player can also play a range of video files. Some preloaded applications such as YouTube and smart apps can be entertaining for users.
Battery and Storage
As in case with entry level phones, the Idea ID 920 provides an average 1400mAh battery life. The makers reportedly claim a 2G talk time of 13 hours and up to seven hours of 3G talktime. It supposedly offers 300 hours and 500 hours over the 3G and 2G networks. Moderate use involving some minutes of voice call, gaming and web browsing would require charging after two days. Apart from low RAM, the device has 512 MB ROM and only 100 MB is accessible for storing contents. However, there is also 32 GB additional storage capacity to have space for favorite videos, songs, games and low end apps.

Verdict
At a price below Rs 5,000 the handset has average features suitable for first time users. A below par camera and design shouldn't be much of an issue with low end users. However, there are far better models coming up gradually at similar or above price range. There is some competition from models like Videocon A22, Micromax Bolt A35 and Intex Aqua Star. Idea 2G data offers and TV services may lure people to invest on this device.
