Features and Specifications

The screen size of this device is 5-inch made up of TFT LCD WVGA which offers 256k colors. OS in this device is Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and processor is 1GHz Quad core. Weight of the device is 126g making it comfortable to hold and carry in pocket. The rear camera in it is 3.2MP while the front one is VGA (0.3MP) suitable for selfies. The rear camera has an LED light for low light support. RAM is 512MB while the internal storage is also 512MB but this can be expanded up to 16GB with microSD card. This is a dual SIM device and the connectivity options it has include GPRS, Edge, 2G, GSM, 3G, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth, microUSB, and Wi-Fi. The battery in it is 1800mAh Li-ion which is removable.

Design and Quality

This is beautiful looking device having decent curved edges. The large screen suits perfectly well in the plastic body of the device. The build material is plastic which in hand looks cheap. The top of the screen has speaker, front camera and sensor while the bottom of it has the three navigation touch keys. Towards the top is the headset jack. The back of the device is removable which exposes the battery which is also removable and the two SIM slots along with microSD slot. The volume rocker is towards the right hand side besides the power button. The screen is decent enough though the viewing angles are not very impressive. The look of the device is quite nice and it may attract users’ attention.

OS and Tech

OS here is too old one. Gingerbread has also been expired and almost every smartphone uses latest OS like Jelly Beans or KitKat or even higher to that. But since the processor is less powerful and the RAM is limited to 512MB so hopefully this would suit the hardware specifications and the performance if not very fast but would be free of lags but actually this is not the case. The performance of the device is suffered due to limited RAM and less powerful processor.

Camera and Multimedia

Camera department is a complete failure in this smartphone. The rear camera even has been given some built in modes and flash light but it doesn’t produces presentable images. The pictures taken by the rear camera are very grainy and produce less clarity. The color depiction of the images is also not good. Under low light, the performance of the camera gets worse. It can record videos but the same problem can also be observed with the videos. The front camera is VGA which can hardly be used for the selfies which are also of not good quality.

Battery and Memory

1800mAh battery has been introduced in this device which provides about 5hrs of talk time as per claims of the company. Looking at other specifications, this much battery is decent enough since this is not a high end or even a mid-range device. The battery may not go for the whole day long and would require frequent recharging. The memory is another disaster in this device. 512MB of RAM and internal storage may not be acceptable to anyone. Though it gives 16GB expansion to the internal storage but even than this would be taken as shock by the customers.

Verdict

Videocon is in its initial stages of mobile developing and is struggling hard to provide decent devices having dual core and quad core processor and it would take it little more time to get itself established in this market. But it is a good thing that the company has shown its presence in mobile market. The specifications of this device are even nice but comparing to this one there are better featuring quad core devices who work much better than this one and the example is Xolo Win Q900s and Infocus M2. Little attention is required by the company to make its devices better.
