Xolo, a phone brand by Lava International was launched on early 2012. Xolo is an Indian brand and has already released tons of smartphone is the market that competes with other brands both Indian and the Chinese, and they have made a good presence in the market.
With the late entry of the Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, the market has become more competitive and ruthless. Xolo A500S is a low range smartphone in 5-6k bracket that targets audiences with basic smartphone capabilities. The screen is only 4 inch with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 233 ppi. The display type is LCD and the current smartphone only offers better display in this price range.
The hardware of the smartphone is the turning point, as it offers 1.3 GHz Dual Core Cortex A7, coupled with Mali-400 graphics card and 512 MB RAM.

To start, A500S runs on an outdated Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) and can seriously hamper the prospects of the smartphone in the market. The OS version was fine at the time of the release of the smartphone, but now the smartphone OS is outdated with the release of Android 5.0.
The smartphone supports dual-Sim (GSM+GSM) in the form factor of Mini SIM Size.
The whole setup is powered by a Cortex A7, 1.3 Ghz Dual Core processor, running on the MediaTek MT6572W chipset.
In the storage department, the device offers 4 GB of internal memory with the option to expand the internal memory with a MicroSD card of up to 32 GB.

Design and Quality
The design of XOLO A500S is good and is sturdy and have almost rectangular shape. It offers capacitive touchscreen that lets the user to multi-touch. It also weighs less at only 120 grams. Currently, the smartphone is available in four colors; black, blue, red and white.
Other features bring more value to the smartphone. The power key is present on the left side of the smartphone, whereas the volume rocker key is present on the right side of the smartphone.
The quality of the device is good and it can fit nicely in the hands.
OS and Tech
The operating system of smartphone is Android v4.2 JellyBean which is outdated to a large extent. It doesn't provide the latest functionality of the KitKat and Lollipop. With other mods such as Cyanogen and MIUI coming in the market completely dismantles the current operating system with extreme options of customizability and features.
On Tech Side, the smartphone is average. The hardware under the hood is decent and provides enough juice to run most of the apps without any lags.
Camera and Multimedia
The camera aspect of XOLO A500S smartphone is poor as it offers very low megapixel 0.3 MP and it's better to not count it. The other camera is 5 MP capacity with flash LED and digital zoom. You can also record HD video at 30 FPS. Other camera features like Touch to focus and Geo tagging is also supported.
The multimedia capacity of the smartphone is good and it plays all the major audio and video format without any difficulties. The device support FM Radio, Audio Jack and Loudspeaker.
Battery and Memory
With only 1400 mAh battery, the device can easily last the whole day, keeping the device resolution and screen size in mind.
The memory of the device is above average; with internal memory of 4Gb you can store all the basic files and if you think that you need more space, you can choose to upgrade the memory capacity of the smartphone with another 32 GB using the microSD slot.
