Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240 Mobile Price in India
Indian market has been largely favoring the phablet and the Micromax is another manufacturer which has launched its phablet in the market with the name Canvas Doodle 2 A240 which is actually the successor of Canvas Doodle. This device is having 5.7-inch large screen and many other very good features which need to be analyzed later in this article. This device is not available at the affordable price and is priced high but is one of the coolest handsets in the Indian markets which has also left behind the company’s own another device Canvas 4.
Features and Specifications
The weight of the device is 220g and is a dual SIM device. The screen is 5.7-inch of type IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen offering 16M colors while the resolution of the screen is 720x1280p. The screen also offers multi-touch. The OS here is Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans while the processor is 1.2GHz quad core. The secondary camera is 5MP to be used for the selfies and video calls. 2600mAh li-ion battery has been provided in it and the device is available in silver color. The connectivity options here are microUSB, FM radio, GPS, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, GSM and Bluetooth.
Design and Quality
The design is resembled with the Canvas 4 and the company seems to follow a consistent design across all its canvas series. This new release of Micromax is the heavier and bigger version of canvas 4. It is rather more compact and sturdier than canvas 4. It is also wider than canvas 4 and is easy to be operated by single hand. Holding this device in hand for calls feels really heavy and makes one remind of old age cellular heavy handsets. The build quality of this device is good enough having smooth curved edges having aluminum back body. From the back panel, this device has been divided into three segments with white colored bands. The top section of rear panel is made up of plastic which is removable for the SIM slots. This segment also has 12MP rear camera and is bulging out little and the camera is surrounded by the chrome ring along with an LED light. The middle segment of the back is made up of aluminum which is not removable and it has the company branding on it. The lower segment is little plastic and has the speaker grill. This is the first phone from the company which doesn’t have the removable battery and the quality of its build is considered as the best among the canvas series. The front of the device is all glass having thin bezel all around it. Towards the top of the screen is the sensors, chrome earpiece and the front facing camera. Towards the bottom of the screen are the three navigation keys.
OS and Tech
The device runs Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans and is a quite rare version of Android OS. It also has skinned version of UI on top of the OS. The device works decently in this OS with good support from the quad core processor and the RAM. The performance is quite flawless and the multitasking is very smooth.
Camera and Multimedia
The rear camera has a different sensor than what has been provided in canvas 4. The daylight photo shoot is very crispy producing accurate colors tough some noise can be observed towards the pictures edges. Under low light or artificial light, the performance of the camera is not very impressive and the background noise can be heard largely. The videos recorded by this camera also suffer from similar problem while the front camera works nice for the video conferencing and selfies.
Battery and Memory
The 2600mAh battery provides 220hrs of standby time and 8hrs of the talk time as per the claims of the company. The real performance of the battery is not bad and it has produced enough working time of the device. Under normal use, the battery can take the device running for whole day which includes the internet use, few calls etc. The RAM is decent for the mid-range device while the 16GB internal storage without expansion also seems decent if the user is not used to of many apps.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Good build quality
· Good battery
· A lot of preloaded apps
For Cons:
· Non expandable memory
· Stylus is not impressive
· Expensive
· Heavy
Verdict
This is no doubt a solid device but little heavy. It has better performance in its screen, camera, and other preloaded apps. Battery life is also decent in this device as compared to other similarly priced devices. This is a good performing device though little bulky but other better alternatives are also available including Spice Pinnacle FHD and Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8.
