Right after the release of Gionee Elife E6, the Gionee comes up with kits another stunning release with the name GPad G3. This is another low cost release from Gionee. The GPad G3 has strong installments within it at a much decent price. The device is available in stunning white and black colors. It comes under phablet as the size of the screen is 5.5-inch which is an LCD display providing 854x480p resolution. The processor providing power to the handset is of 1.2GHz quad core and is boosted by 1GB of RAM. The internal memory here is 4GB but can be easily expanded up to 32GB with the microSD card. The back camera is of 5MP coupled with LED flash and a VGA front camera for video calls and fallacies. The connectivity features provided by the set include Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, and GPS. The OS is Android v4.2 Jelly Beans and the battery is 2250mAh. The phone also supports Dual SIMs.

Design and Quality

The back of the phone have matte finish. At the bottom of the large screen there are three capacitive touchscreen navigation keys and the mic while at the top of the screen there is front facing camera, some sensors and the speaker. The volume rocker and the power button are on the right of the phone while the microUSB port is at the bottom and the 3.5mm audio jack is located at the top of the phone. The build quality and the finishing of the device is very nice. The back cover is made up of good quality plastic which is removable. Under the back there are two SIMs slots, the microSD card slot and the battery which is also removable. The viewing angles of the screen are not very good. The weight of the phone is 184g which makes it a bulky handset.

OS and Tech

The OS is Android v4.2 Jelly Beans which is an old OS but it works smoothly on the device giving nice multitasking. The processor is also quite powerful and gives nice support to the OS. The OS is strong enough to run numerous Android supported apps quite fast and smooth.

Camera and Multimedia

The rear camera is of 5MP while there are some devices having 8MP cameras at the same price range. So the quality of the pictures taken are of acceptable but not of high quality. The video recording is also done by the camera which also compromises the quality. The LED flash provided with the back camera work though fine but the night time photography is not actually a fun with this device. The front camera works fine for the video calls and fallacies. The quality of video calls is also not very high but presentable.

Battery and Memory

The battery provided is quite large here due to the large screen. The 2250mAh battery is expected to stand for longer hours. The device also comes with a pre-installed energy saving app which reduces the brightness of the screen to minimum in order to save the energy. This much battery is quite enough to stand for a day under moderate use but recharging large batteries is always a problem as it requires quite a lot of time to get it recharged completely. The RAM is limited here to 1GB and the internal storage also got reduced to 4GB but this can be expanded up to 32GB with microSD card. The good news here is that apps can get installed on microSd card and they run from there very smoothly. Mostly games are installed by users on the microSd card in order to preserve the internal storage for much important apps.

Verdict

The device is impressive and the its performance can be compared to those of iBall 5h Quadro and BSNL Champion Trendy 531 which have the similar features but bit expensive sets.  The resolution of the screen is not very good here which can be a drawback for most of the users and some of the heavy games also get crashed due to limited RAM. Since photography department is also not very strong here so people who are not fond of photography and gaming can opt this device which come at affordable price. Rest of the specifications of the device is excellent especially the build quality and the design is outclass. User need to think what feature is more important to them before buying any handset.
