Samsung Galaxy Golden Mobile Price in India
Luxury phones of the past where a sight to behold with stylish materials and designs making everyone stop and stare. These days a luxury phone is classified as a phone with either embedded precious stones or being gold plated or both. This luxury flip phone which incidentally is also a Smartphone belongs to the Samsung Galaxy lineup. Samsung must have felt that they needed another player to capture the elitist level of society. Luxury phones are good for one and only one thing which is flaunting your wealth. Is this phone capable of more than just showing off? We find out below.
Features and Specifications
The Galaxy Golden flip phone has two displays (outside and inside) and both of them have the same specs which is 3.7inch sAMOLED. The OS is Android v4.2 Jelly Bean; it is a very old version of Android and lacks the improved UI of the newer versions. There is no dual sim feature which was to be expected and it supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks. It sports a 1.7GHz Dual core processor with 1.5GB of RAM while the internal memory is 16GB with MicroSD card support. The two cameras on the phone are 8MP (rear) and 1.9MP (front) with basic camera features included in the camera app.
Design and Quality
The main lure of the Luxury phone depends on its looks that are the design and materials being used. The phone no doubt looks very stylish while keeping in touch with a classic image. The phone is a brown clam shell framed on all sides with a gold color and comes packaged with a black leather protective pouch. As you no doubt guess the phone comes in only one color which is champagne gold but the area surrounding the screen and buttons is brown like we explained above. Of course the materials used make the phone a tad bulky at 15.8mm width and 179g heavy.
OS and Tech
The OS is Android Jelly Bean v4.2 and works very well considering the higher than required amount of RAM. The dual screens make for a very interesting user experience as the user can basically take care of most business without opening the phone unless they want to make a call or use the keyboard. The phone features 4 sensors which are proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyro sensor and digital sensor. The connectivity features on the phone are NFC (near field communication), Bluetooth, GPS, MicroUSB and WiFi.
Camera and Multimedia
The main camera is 8MP with LED flash support with autofocus and video recording enabled. The camera quality is impressive which shows that Samsung has used the same tech it employed in the other Galaxy phones. The HD videos can consume a lot of space so a MicroSD card is a must buy for video recording enthusiasts. The 1.9MP camera manages to take satisfactory levels of selfies but do not expect amazing ones since the megapixel count is quite low. The phone is not a very good video player because of the small sized display and though you can watch them it won’t be much fun. Music on the other hand can be enjoyed nicely with the large codec support and host of apps available on the Google Play Store.
Battery and Memory
A phone is useless with power and this applies to all types including luxury phones. The Samsung Galaxy Golden features a 1820mAh battery capacity with talk times up to a reported 11 hours while the standby time is an impressive 350 hours. Considering the width of the phone it makes sense why Samsung chose to go with a smaller battery rather than a bigger one. The phone has 16GB of internal memory which is enough for many apps and games but if you plan on taking a lot of videos or pictures then invest in a big 64 MicroSD card which is the max supported limit by the phone.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Great design
· Luxury label
· 4G and NFC
For Cons:
· Price
· Small screen
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Golden is a good phone that unfortunately doesn’t stand up to similar priced non luxury smartphones when it comes to raw specs and features. The only selling point of this phone is the luxury tag and the looks because of its price tag the only people who will buy this phone are the upper class people of our society and that too if they fancy the looks. Let’s face it, the rivals of the Galaxy Golden like Apple iPhone 5S 64GB (gold version) and the Blackberry Porsche Design P9982 both have much to offer the luxury phone consumer than the Galaxy Golden. In the end it will come to preference of OS and design which is a subjective affair.
