Xolo, the smart device brand from Lava International has launched many smartphone in its Q CORE series. The company with its continuous numerous endeavours has slowly but surely made an impact in the mid-range smartphone market. It has in fact made it quite clear that it is going to continue playing in the mid-range segment and that is where, the company feels lays the deeper gold. Launched in 2013, the Xolo Q900 is the brand’s first device with a 4.7 inch HD display. The device is handsomely priced in a range that is well affordable by the bigger sections of the market.
Features and Specifications
The device supports Dual-SIM and the size of the display screen is 4.7 inches made with a TFT Capacitive touchscreen offering an astounding 16M colors. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at 312 ppi and also supports multi-touch. OS used in the device is Android v4.2 Jelly Bean and processor giving power to the handset is a Quad-Core 1.2GHz Cortex A-7 chipset. There is 1GB of RAM on-board the Xolo Q900 while the internal memory is 4 GB which can be expanded further with the help of a Micro-SD card up to 32GB. The primary camera is an 8 MP shooter with an LED flash while a secondary 2 MP front camera is also provided for the rare selfies and video-chats, which are becoming quite popular. The battery life is a mere 1800 mAh, though it is a replaceable one at that and all the connectivity features are present as expected in the smartphone.
Design and Quality
The Xolo Q900 is a device with a rather simple design with glossy plastic on both sides, making it prone to smudges. There is an aluminium frame at the edges of the front panel, adding to the premium appeal of the phone. The rear plastic back of the smartphone is removable along with the battery and that is where the SIM Cards and Micro-SD cards go. The power buttons and volume controls are present on the left and the right side respectively, while the microphone is located at the bottom part of the smartphone. The headphone jack is at the top along with the USB charger socket. The camera part of the phone is slightly bulged and bumped out, which makes it easier for scratches and smudges.
OS and Tech
The OS running the phone is Android v4.2 Jelly bean, which provides better resources while at the same time, being less RAM intensive. Better power optimization, more fluid touch responses and better content sharing are some of the key improvements in the OS. Newer tech features like quick access control and in tweak notifications and apps like Xolo Secure make the smartphone stand out.
Camera and Multimedia
The Xolo Q900 comes with an 8 MP AF rear shooter with an LED flash. The camera is stacked with a BSI Sensor that makes handling the camera in low light all the more fun. The snaps taken in daylight are nice and give proper in depth color resolution. The rear also supports 1080p Full HD recording. There is also a 2 MP front camera which is pretty average.
Battery and Memory
The battery provided with the smartphone is a Lithium-Polymer 1800 mAh battery. The battery drains out fast, even when used moderately and it becomes increasingly tough to last a day with the battery. The 1 GB of RAM on Jelly Bean is quite good and the internal memory is 4GB, though it can be expanded with the help of a Micro-SD card to 32 GB.

If you are looking for a smartphone that offers good performance experiences like gaming and multi-tasking, and at the same time do not expect much from the camera and battery life, then the Xolo Q900 is going to make you turn over your head and get you thinking.
