XOLO A500L Mobile Price in India
XOLO A500L is another product from the A500 series of phones. The entry level phone packs pretty decent configuration for its price range. Users will find it comfortable to use because of its curve shape on the back, which fits the phone perfectly in hand. Powered by a 1.3GHz processor and an OS that is free from customized skin from manufacturer, the phone gives a pretty smooth user experience even with multiple applications running in the background.
Features & Specifications
A500L is powered by a 1.3 GHz MT6572 MediaTek chipset and dual-core processor, which is the most trusted processor in this price segment. The 512 MB RAM combined with Mali 400 MP GPU is adequate to run fairly large games and applications. The capacitive buttons for Home, Back and Recent Tasks, do not light up which could be a hindrance for users. Like many in this price range, this phone supports dual-sim cards. Although the phone does not support OTG, it comes with other standard connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4 and GPS with A-GPS.
Design and Quality
The 4-inch TFT display has a resolution of 480 x 800, with effective pixel density of 233 ppi. At 124.8 x 64.6 x 11.9mm dimensions, the phone can be considered quite thick. Both the micro-USB and 3.5mm headphone jack are placed at the top, volume rocker to the left and power button to the right of the phone. The device is quite sturdy and the physical buttons offer acceptable feedback. Although it is mostly made of plastic and does not exude upscale finish, the metallic trim that runs across the sides give it a shiny modern look. The back panel attracts fingerprints and may get soiled in no time.
OS and Tech
XOLO A500L runs on the Android 4.2 Jellybean operating systems and has not been subjected to manufacturer`s customizations. Only a slight modification has been made to OS, to make it suitable for the dual-sim functionality. The phone comes loaded with standard Google Apps. Apart from the standard apps such as Google Apps, Document viewer, photo viewer and so on, the XOLO provides additional bonus to its fans in the form of XOLO Power and XOLO Secure apps. XOLO Power optimizes the battery life, while XOLO Secure provides anti-theft and data backup functionalities.
Camera and Multimedia
A 3.2MP camera with 720p camera is not much even in the price range. The front camera is a basic VGA camera. The LED flash on the device fails miserably even in the slightly low light conditions. The videos recorded at 8FPS are obviously not something to boast of. Clearly, this is not camera focused equipment.
Battery and Memory
Equipped with a 1500 mAh battery, the phone easily lasts more than a day of average use. XOLO Power app comes very handy in extending the life of the battery significantly even with the internet-connected applications set for refresh. The phone comes with 4 GB internal memory out of which about 2.5 GB is available for usage. A microSD card slot allows a user to expand the memory to a maximum of 32 GB. It also helps that the applications and files can be moved to the SD card to release some space on the phone.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Expandable upto 32 GB
· Apps movable to SD card
· No bloatware installed to slow the phone
· Good build quality
· Nice gaming experience
For Cons:
· No OTG support
· Very poor Camera
Verdict
Even as a decently priced entry level phone, the XOLO A500L fares pretty badly against the competition. The rivals Motorola Moto E, Karbonn A12+ and even Gionee Pioneer P2, score significantly better on multiple departments. There are a host of other phones in the price range, which offer a better value for money than A500L. The phone fares better only in the gaming department, where it gives a lag-free experience for game addicted users.
