Celkon AR 40 Mobile Price in India
The bar shape is the most common one for Smartphones and most phones make a few modifications to look different. The Celkon AR 40 emulates the iPhone design and HTC's two tone color combo to set it apart from the crowd of similar looking handsets. The design is a great touch and goes well with the 4.0 inch TFT touchscreen. Offering dual sim support with dual core processors and a 3.2mp camera the handset hopes to appeal with consumers who want a good design with all the accompanying specs as well. Celkon does claim to pride itself on their phone’s fashionable looks and this one looks like it delivers even if it does so by emulating a competitor’s design. The AR 40 is Celkon's third entry in its AR Rahman themed smartphone line-up with specially composed ringtones by the artist for the phone and aimed solely at music lovers.
Features and Specifications
The Celkon AR 40 brings with it dual sim support with both 3G & 2G networks and including support for GPRS internet and WiFi. It sports a 4inch capacitive TFT touch screen display capable of a 480x800 pixel resolution. The internals are a 1.2GHz Dual core processor and 512MB RAM while the memory is limited to 4GB with options to expand it via a MicroSD card (up to 32GB mmc). A 3.2MP rear camera is accompanied by a 0.3MP front camera (without flash). The OS is Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean which is standard fare for most low spec phones as Jelly Bean does not need much processing power to perform.
Design and Quality
The phone aims to deliver a great design mirroring that of the iPhone and somewhat succeeds. It does have a great solid feel to it and the design does indeed match that of the newer iPhones but the large bezels detract from its overall look. In an effort to compensate for the bezels the phone makes the area surrounding the display black in color and it manages to give the handset a nice two tone finish. The Yellow and black color combo gives off a youthful and energetic look that compliment the design and quality of the phone.
OS and Tech
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is the OS offered with the Celkon AR 40 and considering the specs of the phone it is a good choice. Jelly bean requires less memory and processing power to perform smoothly so the user experience will not suffer. As with all android phones the user has access to a plethora of apps and games in the play store. Connectivity features in the phone are Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, MicroUsb 2.0 and also includes both a Proximity sensor and a G sensor.
Camera and Multimedia
A 3.2 MP camera oddly without the LED flashlight but with video recording features is found at the rear of the phone. The camera can takes images of up to 2048x1536 pixels while the video recorded will be lower than HD quality because of the limitations of the camera. The front camera is a standard VGA camera and is useful for taking selfies and such but not in the dark since it doesn’t include a flash like most phones. Using the bundled in handsfree the user can take advantage of the built in FM Radio feature found in the phone. The Celkon AR 40 has support for video and music playback that can utilize the phone’s loudspeaker or the handsfree depending on the user’s preference. The main focus of this phone is the specially composed ringtones by the famous Artist AR Rahman and its emphasis on being for music lovers.
Battery and Memory
The battery life is not much to look at with only 1500mAh of battery for the phone to work with considering that 3G usage will severely hamper battery life as well. The spec sheet does not mention the talk time nor standby time of the phone but you can expect it to be shorter than you like. With 512MB of RAM the phone aims to deliver the its goal of a good experience for music lovers and it certainly can if listening to music is the main function utilized. 4GB of internal memory is included but considering the emphasis on music the handset has support for expandable storage via a MicroSD slot for up to a max 32GB card.

Verdict
For a phone priding itself on its looks and being targeted to music lovers it is sort of a mixed victory. The loudspeaker could have been much better and instead of standard handsfree Celkon could have bundled in specially designed headphones for audiophiles to appreciate. As it is the phone is not bad seeing as its target audience is not multitasking junkies or graphic heavy gamers but rather fans of AR Rahman and/or music lovers. The design and specially composed ringtones by the great man himself will be more than enough allure for many. It does face serious competition from rivals Zen Ultrafone 402 Sport and Karbonn Titanium S11 who offer better battery time, more processing power and 5MP cameras all at similar price ranges.
