Atom Ultimus Mobile Price in India
Atom Ultimus is one of those phones that people on a budget wait for anxiously. You have a phone with great specs and being offered at a low price. It is phones like these at prices like so that show the world that the local mobile industry has the power to severely challenge big name brands. Granted some people might have issue with the MediaTek processors used since they don’t perform as well as the more expensive ones but remember that all budget phones like this one have MediaTek processors and they perform well enough at their own pace. Let’s go over all the features of this phone below before we reach our verdict.
Features and Specifications
This phone is rich in features with a 5 inch High Definition display using IPS technology capable of FHD resolution which is 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has a 1.5GHz Quadcore MediaTek MT 6589T processor with 1GB of RAM but oddly no dedicate GPU for gaming related processes. The OS is Android Jelly Bean v4.2 which is quite an old version but with 1GB of RAM will be a treat to use. Dual Sim features are thankfully present which is common in locally manufactured mobile phones and has both 2G and 3G support. The last feature are the cameras which are 13MP (primary camera) with flash and 5MP (secondary camera) without flash.
Design and Quality
The Atom Ultimus is not very slim but neither is it thick enough to be called unattractive since it lies at the acceptable level of 9.2mm while the weight is 125g. The materials used for the phone is a durable plastic like material commonly used in these days. To say a metallic look would have been better welcomes would not be far from the truth but that would inflate the cost of the phone too much. The phone incidentally is available in two colors which are black and white. The bezels are acceptably slim enough to pass notice but if they were any larger then the looks of the phone would suffer a lot.
OS and Tech
Many will question the wisdom of coming out with a phone with very competitive specs but using an older version of the Android OS. The phone uses Jelly Bean Android which is v4.2 whereas the latest version in the market is Android Lollipop v5.1 (Android M v5.2 is a developer version and not common in the market YET). Regardless of the reasoning for Jelly Bean’s use there is no doubt that the performance will be superb with a 1.5GHz Quadcore processor and 1GB of RAM at its disposal. You can expect a smooth UI and great multitasking with rare if any crashes due to low memory.
Camera and Multimedia
The 13MP primary camera is a beast in terms of Megapixel count and takes great pictures at a very high resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels. Of course the quality of pictures you get here are that on par with 13MP cameras of phones like the Galaxy Note 3 and such as the sensor used in those phones far outperforms the one in the Atom Ultimus but still at this price range it is a great deal. The front camera is 5MP which makes for great selfies and video quality when using apps like Skype for video calling. The display being HD and the phone having the specs to support the screen means that for those that know how you will be able to enjoy HD movies on the go with the Atom Ultimus.
Battery and Memory
The battery life is always the main concern of anyone looking to buy a mobile phone as when the battery dies the phone is next to useless. Here the Atom Ultimus sports a 2000mAh battery capacity which is less than ideal considering the FHD display but still manages to give out 18hrs of talk time on 2G and 10hrs on 3G networks. The standby time is 460hrs on 2G and 460hrs on 3G which is satisfactory for anyone who wants to know. The internal memory is 16GB and shows that the manufacturer had the presence of mind to learn from the mistakes of others who made great phone only to give them 4GB or 8GB of internal memory leading to widespread dissatisfaction from consumers. Lastly it does have MicroSD card support of up to 32GB.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· FHD 5inch display
· Quadcore processor
· 16GB internal memory
· 13MP camera
· Comes bundled with 2 screen protectors and 1 flip cover
· Dual Sim
For Cons:
· Older Android version
· Battery capacity could be better
Verdict
The Atom Ultimus is a great phone with great specs and should go far. It unfortunately has strong rivals like the Lava Pixel V1 and the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G that make it hard for it to compete in the price range. Both the rivals have better specs and are at the same price range with one of them belonging to a big name brand. In the patriotism will play a big role in the decision of whether to buy this phone or not. It's not a bad phone, it is, and in fact a great one but the rivals are better.
