Intex Cloud Y13 Mobile Price in India
Intex has recently come out with a new phone dubbed the Intex Cloud Y13 and has placed it in the budget line at just under Rs. 6000 price range. It is not as cheap as most other phones you will find and neither that great in the specs department but it does the job. Below we will look at all the different features of the device before reaching our verdict. Intex has high end phones as well as low end budget phones in its arsenal so you could say they are experienced in this sort of market. Let’s see if their experience paid off.
Features and Specifications
The phone has a 4 inch display using IPS tech and capable of FWVGA resolution which is 800 x 480 pixels and 262,000 colors. The OS is Android but using an older version of it i.e. v4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The phone has a dual sim feature which means you can use two sims simultaneously either on 2G or 3G networks. It is powered by a Dual core 1.2GHz processor and a MT6572 GPU while the RAM is 512MB. The internal memory on the device is 4GB which is less according to today's standards but you have a MicroSD option of up to 32GB to take the strain off.
Design and Quality
Intex Cloud Y13 takes inspiration from the old Samsung phones with the extended body at the bottom. It is similar to the ones found on clamshell phones as well. Needless to say this means the bezels are quite large and leads to an unfavorable screen-to-body ratio. One of the reasons for this is the presence of physical touch keys below the screen. The phone comes in two colors which are White and Black. Prospective buyers will be glad to know that the phone comes with a free flip cover as well.
OS and Tech
Android Jelly Bean was one of the most popular versions of the Android OS. The Intex Cloud Y13 uses it as well which is good as 512MB of RAM is not enough memory to smoothly run the newer versions of Android. Still, this version has a lot to offer its users with the huge library of games and apps on the Google Play Store and the ability to sync your information with your Gmail account as well. Apart from that the phone has WiFi, Bluetooth, MicroUSB, GPS and Hotspot connectivity features with a built-in FM radio that works in conjunction with the bundled headphones.
Camera and Multimedia
The camera on Intex Cloud Y13 is 3.2MP with LED flash and support for video recording. If you cannot already guess this means that the image and video quality will not be anything near High Definition. The front camera is an even lower 1.3MP and makes us think that maybe Intex took too much inspiration from older Samsung phones and used their cameras well as design in the Cloud Y13. Multimedia features are plenty on the phone courtesy of the Android OS media format friendly nature. Downloading a video player such as VLC will ensure your phone runs all video formats without a hitch that is if the processors can keep up.
Battery and Memory
Saying that the phone takes a beating here would be softening the blow as it is more like a severe beatdown. The battery capacity is only 1500mAh but that is not the worst part. The talk time is only 5 hours, yes, you heard that right just 5 hours. The standby time is 135 hours and not even close to impressive. It really takes the wind out of the Cloud Y13’s sails when you consider the primary purpose for a phone is to call and this one can only do so for 5 hours. Granted the 4GB memory is less than what you find on most phones but the MicroSD option exists which is some solace.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Android OS
· Free Slip Cover
· Dual Sim
For Cons:
· Horrible Battery life
· Low resolution Camera
· Old and outdated design
· RAM is also too low
· Less than stellar display
· Price
Verdict
Rarely do we find a phone with more Cons than Pros and hard to talk up. The Intex Cloud Y13 is such a phone as regardless of the low par specs if the price had been at least Rs.2000-3000 lower than a user base for it would be possible. As of right now the only people who will buy this phone are the technologically inept or those that were gifted this phone. Certainly when you compare this phone to rivals Lenovo A328 and Micromax Unite 2 A106 which are in the same price range but way better in the specs dept the choice becomes clear.
